⚾ Steve Aoki’s Shohei Ohtani collection is on another level. Aoki calls Ohtani a “transcendent athlete,” and his collection shows just how seriously he’s been collecting him. Among the highlights are multiple 2018 Bowman Chrome Ohtani cards, including blue parallels /150 and an extremely scarce red /5, alongside a Topps Transcendent 1/1 that Aoki says he bought for $20,000 at the National in 2021. One of his favorite collecting wins came from taking an Ohtani red /5 out of a BGS 9.5 slab, submitting it to PSA, and getting back a PSA 10. But Aoki’s connection to Ohtani isn’t purely about rarity or grades. As a Japanese-American collector, he explains that Ohtani’s Japanese heritage makes collecting him personally meaningful, while Ohtani’s unprecedented success as an elite hitter and pitcher puts him in a category few modern baseball players can touch. Which Ohtani card from Aoki’s collection are you taking? 👀 #SteveAoki #ShoheiOhtani #Topps #BowmanChrome #BaseballCards

Bottom of the 8th Phillies trailed the Padres 3-2, 6 outs away from having to get on the plane back to San Diego, Bryce Harper stepped to the plate. J.T. Realmuto had just singled to put the tying run on base and San Diego went to Robert Suarez. The Padres still had Josh Hader waiting in the bullpen but Harper was going to get his chance against one of San Diego’s hardest-throwing relievers and this wasn’t just a home run. It was an incredible at-bat. Harper fell behind 1-2 and Suarez went to his best weapon a changeup that dropped below the strike zone. It was the exact pitch Harper was looking for, but instead of chasing, he laid off. That decision completely changed the at-bat. Suarez threw a 98.9 MPH sinker toward the outer half of the plate and Harper stayed back recognized it and went the other way 108.9MPH off the bat that 382ft for a 2 run go ahead homerun. The Phillies went from trailing 3-2 to leading 4-3 and Citizens Bank Park completely erupted. What makes the moment legendary is the situation, This was Game 5 of the NLCS with the Phillies one win away from their first World Series appearance since 2009. Bryce Harper became just the sixth player in postseason history to hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning or later of a potential series-clinching game while his team was trailing. The home run also capped an incredible NLCS for Harper. He went 8-for-20 (.400) with 2 home runs, 3 doubles, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored across the five games, earning NLCS MVP honors. #Phillies #MLB #BryceHarper
