Apples are a very special treat around here and highly coveted. Now that all 3 of these babies are weaned, their main diet is made up of wild foraged browse, like poplar and willow branches, cattails, and aquatic plants. But occasionally fruits and veggies round out the mix. Apples, sweet potatoes, kale, romaine, and berries are some of their favorites, and variety is key! Beavers are completely herbivores, and off of an all plant diet they will grow from about 1 pound to 25 pounds in their first year of life! By year 2 they can weigh 40 pounds or more, and the largest beaver ever recorded was 110 lbs!! So good nutrition is important for supporting that rapid growth. #wildliferehabilitation #wildliferescue #beaver #wildforlifeinc #

Eager beaver!
Eager beaver!
Meet the beaver, nature's original engineer. They build dams that create entire wetlands, which provide homes for countless other species. Beaver ponds even help filter water and prevent droughts. Their teeth never stop growing. That's why they gnaw on wood constantly—to keep them filed down. Those flat tails? They slap the water to warn their family of danger. And they store fat in them for winter. Oh, and they have transparent eyelids so they can see underwater. Drop a 🦫 if you respect the beaver! #beaver #wildlife #animalfacts #didyouknow #natureengineers

It’s a little bit long and unedited. But there’s a frog riding on the back of my beaver. #frog #beaversofinstagram #beavisthebeaver #beavers #frogsofinstagram

Meet Timber! Timber is a North American Beaver and has been at Turtle Bay since he was just 7 weeks old. A hard working beaver brought traffic to a standstill on a Canadian road as he dragged branches across the lanes. Drivers waited patiently as he made his way from one side to the other, presumably heading straight for his dam. (via: Colin Bruce via ViralHog) #reelheadline #pubity #viral
