Who ordered the Code Red??? Did Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner send cops to a woman’s house over a mean Facebook comment? Did he launch a campaign to deceive the public about it? Did he try to cover up public records? Maybe. Probably. And definitely. But I got the public records. And they CONFIRM that the Mayor reported the mean social media post to the cops. What happened from there? The investigation continues! #BecauseMiami
Better Late Than Never or Too Little Too Late? I’ve been telling Miami commissioners and the city administration for YEARS to STOP paying Joe Carollo’s outside counsel fees and begin collection efforts to clawback MILLIONS in taxpayer dollars they MISAPPROPRIATED to defend his corruption in a $63.5 million PERSONAL CAPACITY lawsuit where HE WAS RESPONSIBLE for paying his own lawyers. They should’ve ended this madness MANY MILLIONS AGO before the case went to trial in 2023. Instead, they gave corrupt city attorneys “Tricky” Vicky Mendez, George Wysong, Kevin Jones and Rachel Dooley a BLANK CHECK while they kept losing lawsuits, ALL the appeals and even lost insurance coverage for the entire city commission! Now they have to pay more outside counsel to sue Carollo to get our money back for his outside counsel. They waited so long, in fact, Carollo has reactivated a 20-year-old lawsuit he filed against the city for $1.5 million he claims he’s owed on his pension. And we STILL can’t get a straight answer from the city attorney on how many millions Carollo actually owes the city! #BecauseMiami

Yesterday, I returned to the scene of the crime for a new episode of everybody’s favorite shitshow ‘The Miami Mafia City Commission’ to talk about their latest robbery of taxpayer money: voting to give themselves lifetime pensions for a part-time job (that they don’t have to pay into and fully vest after 7 years). Little Joe “Wifebeater” Carollo sure did miss me! #BecauseMiami

Almost TWO YEARS AGO, Miami Mafia City Manager Art Noriega — who makes over $525,000 a year, making him the highest paid municipal employee in all of Miami-Dade, and doesn’t even live in the city — effectively confessed to a conflict of interest and misappropriation of funds scandal that funneled MILLIONS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS to his wife’s overpriced furniture company. Instead of firing him, commissioners increased his salary by 38%! On March 14th 2024, during a commission meeting, Noriega offered to do an interview with me and answer all my questions. That NEVER happened. So I followed up directly with him last summer in this video — which I forgot to post sooner cuz there’s too much f*ckery to keep up with! Now, Mayor Higgins-willing, this will be the end of Noriega’s career at the city — so I guess we’ll never get that interview. #BecauseMiami
Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner HATES the First Amendment and the TRUTH. He’s such an INTERNATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT that virtually no VIPs came to his State of the City — and when I called him out about it at yesterday’s commission meeting, he LIED about his crowd size. But I got the receipts… #BecauseMiami
MAYORS FOR SALE: Real estate developer Rishi Kapoor arrested by the feds on a 37-count indictment for an $85 million fraud, allegedly spending investor money buying a mansion, yacht, McLaren and TWO mayors: Miami’s Francis Suarez (aka Ponzi Postalita) and Coral Gables’s Vince Lago. Which domino will fall next? #BecauseMiami
Shortly before 8pm last night, I regrettably had to share the tragic news about Joe Carollo with the (beyond) sold out audience at the Florida premiere of our new @rakontur pop doc CANCELED: THE PAULA DEEN STORY… #BecauseMiami 🎥 @literallymiami
#BREAKING: Accountability Journalism Works! 18 hours after I contacted city leaders for comment on this ongoing misappropriation of public money and police resources by Miami Mafia Police Chief Manny Morales, city manager Art Noriega, and ex-Mayor Ponzi Postalita (aka Francis Suarez) — which has already cost taxpayers OVER $5 MILLION — Miami PD announced it was an “oversight” (🐂💩) and “it was promptly corrected.” #BecauseMiami The former part-time mayor’s Vanity Patrol of 24/7 security by on-duty police officers was an unprecedented and unjustifiable abuse of law enforcement that’s cost taxpayers about $1 million a year since 2020, eroded morale in the department, and made the city less safe. And Morales CONTINUED it after Suarez was no longer in office! Until I started asking questions… New Mayor Eileen Higgins, Morales, Noriega, and four of the five city commissioners have NO COMMENT — but newly elected commissioner Rolando Escalona called it “inappropriate” and told me he’d make inquiries. If it’s truly going to be the new era in City of Miami government that Mayor Higgins promised, she needs to act fast, clean house, restore trust, and stop these multi-million dollar abuses of taxpayer money and ham-fisted cover-ups.
28 hours ago, I invited Miami Beach Commission candidate Monique Pardo Pope onto the #BecauseMiami podcast to discuss her complicated family history and public comments about her Neo-N@zi coke-dealing corrupt cop serial k¡ller father who was sentenced to de@th for m*rdering 9 people (see previous post)… Instead of having that candid conversation with voters, she doubled down on dishonesty — spreading misinformation about her father and attacking the messenger (but not the substance of my 100% factual reporting). It’s a shame, too, because I believe Monique has an extraordinary story to share and, since she’s running for a powerful position of public trust that oversees a billion dollar budget of taxpayer money, the voters deserve to hear it from her so they can make an informed decision. Monique has not responded to my invitation. UPDATE 4:24pm ET: She blocked me.
It’s Miami Mafia Monday: your regular reminder that the City of Miami is a criminal racketeering organization masquerading as municipal government. A Third World Banana Republic run by a cabal of wanna tin-pot dictators that preys on its residents and business owners. And the Miami of today is the America of tomorrow. #BecauseMiami
