#PavoReal #peacock #indianwildlife #wildlifeofindia #wildlifephotographer #pench #penchnationalpark #birdingphotography #birdsofindia

Quite a few friends in Old Delhi have spent a fortune in the form of money, effort and time to keep up with their ever demanding love for Kabutarbaazi. When asked about their favourite breed of pigeons, most of them mention the legendary Gola or Roller pigeon. Age old traditions suggest, Gola as a favourite in this sport since centuries, because of its easier training, shepherding abilities, low flying sorties, etc. They’ve been quite cleverly used by the Kabutarbaaz for shepherding other pigeons, including the take-offs and landings. This class of breed was also very popular amongst the Imperial Mughal Postal Service, owing to their soaring speeds, delivering mails and even intelligence at a faster rate. Their only drawback was the low flying ability, which made them susceptible to counter espionage pigeon squads. With the passage of time, Gola pigeon witnessed cross breeding which initiated genetic modification. When you see a Gola pigeon performing somersaults or backflips mid-air, it could be mistaken as a rare ability of the breed. A darker reality suggests that it is a movement disorder owing to their genetic modification which interrupts their flying ability mid-air for sometime and could be a progressive disease. There has been a myth surrounding the Gola pigeons, that being the shepherds they perform mid-air acrobats to impress the following pigeons. On the contrary they’re ailing with a movement disorder. During flying contests pigeons follow their shepherding bird, the Gola, oblivious to the fact their leader is ailing with a movement disorder. Quite an Irony! . . . . . . . . . . . . . #pigeonlove #pigeonlife #pigeonfan #pigeonracing #pigeonlover #pigeonphotography #pigeonsport #pigeonlovers #birdselite #birdsofindia #birdsplanet #birdshots #birdvideo #bird_lovers #bird_freaks #bird_extreme #bird_perfection #bird_brilliance #bird_watchers_daily #bird_lovers_daily #bird_photography
India’s most unique parrot — the Vernal Hanging Parrot 🦜 A small green parrot found in forests across India, especially the Western Ghats and Northeast. Unlike common parakeets, it has a short tail and a compact body. 👉 Feeds on nectar, pollen, and soft fruits 👉 Has a brush-like tongue for drinking nectar 👉 Often hangs and even sleeps upside down 👉 Lives quietly high in the forest canopy Hard to spot… but incredibly fascinating. 👇 Parrot or not? What do you think? #Parrot #ParrotLover #NatureLovers #BirdLovers #BirdsOfIndia

A flash of emerald and plum quietly moves through the branches… the elegant Plum-headed Parakeet pauses, carefully searching for hidden seeds With patience and precision, this colorful parakeet cracks open tiny seeds using its powerful curved beak — turning a simple morning forage into a beautiful moment of wild behavior. In the calm rhythm of nature, every branch holds a possibility, and every seed is a reward. Did you know? Male Plum-headed Parakeets often feed their mates during the breeding season — collecting seeds or fruits and gently passing the food beak-to-beak as part of their bonding ritual. This courtship feeding strengthens pair bonds and helps the female conserve energy for nesting. #wildlifereels #plumheadedparakeet #birdbehavior #avianlife #naturelove
