Let me explain the slogan that I created, "DON'T BIRTH WITHOUT A DOULA." A doula is a non-medical professional who supports families before, during, and after childbirth. The exact role would depend on the needs of the families. Doulas can attend natural and medicated births. Yes, this can include c-sections. No matter how alert you may be, Mama, you aren't aware of everything that is happening. You need a doula who is properly trained and experienced to be another set of eyes and ears that can help you. A doula can provide you with information and physical assistance along your journey. In my doula trainings, we cover natural fertility to lactation; which is extremely important. Statistics prove that doulas help create better birth outcomes, so don't give birth without the help of a doula. Reach out if you have any questions. #dontbirthwithoutadoula #thepregnanttopostpartumevent #doulatraining #thedarkwombredemption #doula
It’s pretty cool what placentas can be used for beyond pregnancy & birth. 👉🏾The placenta is the only organ a woman will build from scratch and give birth to 👉🏾It gives baby the nutrient they need, oxygen & filters out any toxins and waste for mom to flush out. 👉🏾It is the organ that sustains the life of the foetus #placenta #birth #hospitalbirth #nycdoula #njdoula

Your placenta isn’t “waste”! It’s a powerful, temporary organ that your body creates during pregnancy to nourish and support your baby. It delivers oxygen and nutrients, produces essential hormones, and works in harmony with your body for months. After birth, some mothers choose to honor that connection through encapsulation as part of their postpartum recovery. It’s a deeply personal choice that’s rooted in tradition and innate care for the healing process. The Light House is the premier encapsulation service in Buffalo and WNY, and our encapsulator Alex has processed hundreds of placentas. She brings lived experience, intention, and respect to every family served. We know that to some, this service seems “out there”. Not every path looks the same, but every mother deserves to feel informed, supported, and respected in hers. You can read some FAQ’s and book your service right at thelighthousebirth.com ✨
What does science say about having a doula at birth? A large Cochrane systematic review involving over 15,000 women across 26 studies evaluated the impact of continuous support during labor. The results show that when a woman has someone dedicated solely to her support — like a doula — several outcomes improve. Key associations found: • ≈25% fewer cesareans • Lower use of pharmacological pain relief • Shorter labor • Lower chance of low Apgar scores for the baby • Higher satisfaction with the birth experience A doula does not replace medical staff. She provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support, something that is often hard to guarantee in the hospital setting. Evidence suggests that having continuous support can truly impact both the birth experience and outcomes. 📚 Evidence: Cochrane systematic review on continuous support during labor. There’s something powerful about honoring your body after birth. Placenta encapsulation is one of the ways I support moms in replenishing, restoring, and easing into the postpartum season with intention. From helping balance hormones to supporting energy and milk supply, this is care that continues long after baby arrives. If you’ve been curious about adding this to your postpartum plan, I’d love to walk you through it. Your healing matters too. — Helping Hands Doula Services #atlantadoula #doula #helpinghands #doshathedoula #maternalhealth
Some moments in birthwork hit your heart in a way that words can barely hold. Encapsulating the placenta of my own grandson was one of those moments. For over 11 years I have served as a birthworker and placenta encapsulation specialist, preparing placentas with deep reverence for the life they carried. I have always honored this work… but this time it felt different. This was my daughter’s placenta. The organ that nourished my grandson for nine beautiful months. The sacred bridge that connected them. To prepare it with my own hands… as his Yaya and a birthworker… was such a powerful moment for me. It felt like love, legacy, and sacred postpartum care all moving through my hands at the same time. The placenta is so much more than something to discard. In many traditions it is known as the baby’s twin and even called a hidden chakra because of the life force and intelligence it holds. Supporting mothers through placenta medicine is something I take very seriously and hold with deep respect. And after more than a decade of walking this path… I feel called to share this wisdom. My course The Art & Science of Placenta Encapsulation is now inside my Sacred Birth Wisdom Academy on the Skool app. If you are a doula, birthworker, healer, or even a parent who wants to understand this sacred postpartum practice, this course was created with love and intention. ✨ The academy community is FREE to join and the link is in my Linktree. Come learn. Come grow. Come honor the sacred wisdom of birth with me. #SacredBirthWisdom #PlacentaEncapsulation #BirthWorkerLife #SacredBeginnings #PlacentaMedicine PostpartumHealing BirthWorkIsSacred BlackBirthWorker DoulaCommunity GrandMothership SacredBirth BirthEducation
