Folks united in their hatred against the Jewish community don’t care if we’re matrilineal or patrilineal. If you’re optically Jewish in the world you become a target, regardless of your parentage. I think there’s some real value in reimagining some of the gatekeeping we do in the Jewish community. Because it’s a divisive force in a moment where we need to be focused on the collective goal of eradicating antisemitism.

For 70% of American Jews, traditional Jewish spaces (i.e. synagogues) aren’t where connection happens—but does that mean Jewish values aren’t guiding their lives? Absolutely not.
There are a lot of reasons that the majority of Jewish people in the U.S. aren’t opting into establishment Jewish structures with as much frequency. Personal misalignments. The current p0litical climate. A desire to connect in different kinds of spaces. Varying experiences of religiosity. And even feelings of alienation.
I had the pleasure of partnering with @commoneraorg and chatting with @sophieberen during last year’s @zcon.xyz to reflect on the values that shape how they show up in the world—personally, professionally, and spiritually.

After my week in NY attending the black leaders roundtable event aimed at strengthening the black and Jewish community, this REIGNS true.
Israel must tap into its rich resource of human capital, which is women and Jews of Color. Unfortunately, we do not yet live in the world that MLK dreamed of that we would be judged by the content of our character and not the color of our skin. Given that race can now be weaponized we must enter into the identity politics battlefield. I wish this was not the case BUT Israel can use identity politics to her advantage.
Let qualified women speak.
Let Jews of Color speak.
