Albania completely blew us away: - Jaw-dropping mountain scenery that rivals Switzerland (at a fraction of the cost) - Some of the clearest water I’ve ever seen at the Blue Eye spring - Gorgeous beaches without the crowds of neighboring Greece - Ancient ruins without the tourists of Italy - The friendliest locals who treated us like family - Incredible food (fresh seafood, mountain herbs, and local cheese) The country has only been open to tourism since the 1990s after decades of isolation, and it still feels wonderfully undiscovered. We explored from the northern mountains to the southern beaches, and I kept asking myself: “why isn’t everyone talking about this place?!” I guess even Voldemort knew a good hiding spot when he saw one! 😂 Have you been to Albania? Don’t miss out on this natural phenomenon 🇦🇱 ▪️Beauty I’ve seen some beautiful things while traveling, but I’ve got to say this natural phenomenon called Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër in Albanian) has definitely entered my top 5. I don’t think I’ve ever seen water this stunning before. And btw, the water is super cold. ▪️Info Blue Eye is about a 30 minute drive from Saranda, while driving from Ksamil will approximately take you 1 hour. If you don’t want to rent a car during your stay in Albania, you can also take a day trip from Saranda. That’s what I did. During the day trip I visited multiple places and it cost me 36€ to take part. ▪️Side note When I was walking around Blue Eye, I didn’t notice it at all. But in August the South of Albania struggled with wildfires. While driving to and from Blue Eye, you could definitely spot the areas that were damaged.
