The old process that actually made drawings blue with white linework disappeared decades ago, but the term stuck around. The name for this a skeuonym, which is a word that survives long after the original object or process is gone. Now that everyone is back safe — let’s talk about what I’ve been working on. This is something different. No abstract fields, no noise landscapes. These are blueprints of spacecraft that don’t exist — but could. Each drawing is generated by a set of geometric rules: a grid layer, dimension lines, callout markers, side rockets, wings, structural details — all placed by an algorithm, all drawn by the machine with real ink on paper. Two views per sheet, top and side, like an actual technical drawing. A bill of materials at the bottom that references parts that were never manufactured. The ships are fictional.
