She in fact did not ruin the brick…
She trusted the outcome
DIY doesn’t have to mean difficult.
Old Mill Brick was designed so anyone can bring real brick style into their home.
Confidence starts with the right materials.

Help me choose a grouting method!!! Do you like the light German Schmear (over grouting) or the concave method??

4 lessons I learned grouting brick so you don’t have to 😅
1. Discontinued pre-mixed grout? Hard pass. It’s dry, crumbly, and full of regret!
2. Cold + rain + grout = me tarping the porch and running a heater for 5 days. 🫠
3. Seal the brick before you grout… unless you enjoy scrubbing grout haze until your arms fall off.
4. Everyone will have an opinion. Half the internet will hate it. If you love it? That’s all that matters! 🤎
Follow along and learn from my mistakes instead of making them yourself ✨

Peel-and-stick tile might be the most controversial DIY upgrade on the internet right now.
But here’s the thing — for the right space, they can completely change a room without demolition, dust, or committing to something permanent. Sometimes the simplest upgrade is the one people argue about the most.
If you’ve ever wanted to try a tile look without ripping out your floors or walls… this might be your sign.
Comment TILE and I’ll send you a link.

🧱The brick stoop reveal you’ve been waiting for!
What do you think?
This project was a roller coaster! From loving the installed brick to freaking out when it turned completely white, to having faith it would be okay, to the grout not setting 🫠
I’m SO glad it’s done and I’m happy with the result 😁

Finally after 3 years of thinking we were continuing the hardwood floors into our tiny little galley kitchen, my husband gave up and said pick a tile.
Not me immediately begging for a tan checkerboard floor - even mocked it up in chat for his buy in.
Woke up yesterday to my husband saying he was going to do the floors this weekend, let’s go buy some tile 🙃🙃🙃
@flooranddecor - loved their square tiles but they didn’t have both colors in stock at the store 🥲
@loweshomeimprovement is normally my go-to for tile (we used them for our backsplash) but y’all need to get on the checkerboard tile train. There was NOTHING.
@homedepot came in clutch with 12” x 12” tiles and the price was SHOCKING. I was looking at tiles online for like $12/sq ft. We paid $0.59/sq ft in store. I linked it in my #LTK 🤌🏼
The entire project is currently coming in under $400. Husband labor is freeeee.

I often get asked how I became so “handy”… this audio pretty much sums it up 😂
I realized the other day watching my 6 year old spend hours crafting with a cardboard box and popsicle sticks, that basically I think of my house as one big craft project.
Tackling one small thing at a time also makes it less intimidating.
So with this entryway, I’ve been working on it in little bits over the past 6 weeks or so:
1. Demo
2. Build cabinets
3. Cabinet fronts and hardware
4. Tile floor
5. Beadboard and trim
Pretty much every step has been a first for me, so watching YouTube tutorials is where I learn everything.
I’ve also done lots of smaller, easier DIY projects over the past 5 years, which have given me the confidence to do something big like this mudroom transformation.
And I won’t lie — it’s HARD and I make lots of mistakes along the way which slows things down considerably.
Next up - paint and wallpaper, the easy(ish) fun part!

DIY floors for under $300! 🙌🏼 And a quick glance at the chandelier at the end. A contractor told me it looked like something from outer space, but I went with my gut and had it hung. Did I do the right thing?
