Some people ask why I still talk about my past…why I still identify as an “alcoholic” 10 years later.
In 2015, I made a promise to God:
If He set me free, I would dedicate my life to helping others find freedom too.
Broken promises and weekend regrets never kept me sober.
But honesty did.
Talking about my past doesn’t keep me stuck in it, it makes it safer for others to talk about what they’re walking through right now.
You can’t get free from what you refuse to reveal.

STOP breaking your PROMISES .. 😔
Broken promises rarely look dramatic. They look like “We’ll do it later.”
But children build trust through consistency. When a parent repeatedly promises and doesn’t follow through, children can wire beliefs like:
“Words don’t mean much.”
“I shouldn’t get excited.”
“I shouldn’t trust what I’m told.”
Over time, this can lead to:
* Emotional guarding
* Reduced enthusiasm
* Detachment.
Trust is not built through big gestures. It’s built through kept small ones. If something can’t happen, say it clearly. Honesty builds more security than false hope. Clarity opens the door for trust.

I have never broken a promise.
Except when it came to Columbia House when I promised to keep buying DVDs after the first 5 free ones they gave me.
They trusted me and I betrayed them.
Instead of being a valued member, I just kept moving around from place to place. Starting new Columbia House memberships everywhere I went.
Leaving old dusty promises in my wake, while I collected new, shinier DVDs.
So many DVDs.
Ones I didn’t even want.
Like Basic starring John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson. I got it just cause I could. I was out of control.
Falling deeper into the web of lies and promises and breaking the hearts of Columbia House.
A Columbia House of Cards if you will
I’m sorry, Columbia House. I’m sorry I betrayed you. But also…. It’s kind of your fault.
What a terrible marketing strategy.
