FIRST LOOK: Art of Manga💥🇯🇵
Opening this weekend at the Brooklyn Museum: ART OF MANGA, the first major exhibition in the Americas dedicated to exploring manga as an art form.✍️✨
Be drawn into the world of manga! The massive exhibition brings together 600+ original drawings from some of Japan’s most influential manga artists, with works from iconic series including ONE PIECE, Inuyasha, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, BLEACH and more.
The exhibition dives into how manga is created, how to read it, and the incredible artists—or mangaka—behind the stories and characters that have become a global phenomenon.
More than just artwork on the walls. 📚 There’s a MANGA LIBRARY built right into the exhibition, giving visitors a chance to actually pick up manga and read it. The idea behind the library is that manga isn’t simply artwork to look at—it’s an art form meant to be held, read and experienced page by page. 📖✨
MANGA FANS: There’s also a special Manga Fan Pass! 🎟️ For $75, the pass gives one adult + a guest unlimited admission to Art of Manga throughout its entire run (subject to availability), plus general Museum admission, presale access to select Art of Manga programs, Member Preview and select Member Evening invites, 10% off at the Museum Shop + Café, and a collectible badge. Even better: wear your badge when you return and you can collect a new pin on each visit.

When I’m in Brooklyn, I’m usually focusing on the food! This time I went to the @brooklynmuseum but I made a few mistakes 😩
One year ago, this space found a temporary new home at the Brooklyn Museum (@brooklynmuseum) 🎉
The Rubin Museum Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room—first introduced in 2013—has long been one of the Rubin’s most beloved and immersive installations. Step inside and you’ll find more than an exhibition. This is a space designed for reflection, where over 100 artworks and ritual objects are arranged to represent a Tibetan Buddhist household shrine.
The Shrine Room is located on the 2nd floor in the Arts of Asia galleries, where it will remain through 2031.
Happy 1 year anniversary to the Shrine Room at the Brooklyn Museum!

Just ahead of Comic-Con, the Brooklyn Museum welcomed its newest exhibition, “Art of Manga,” over the weekend.
Curated by Nicole Coolidge Rousmaniere, “Art of Manga” highlights over 600 works by prominent manga artists, showcasing the vital roles that manga artists play not just in Japan’s culture, but art as a whole. The exhibition is laid out so you follow the exhibits from right to left, just like how manga is meant to be read.
“Art of Manga” opened to the public on Saturday, Oct. 3, and will run through Jan. 31, 2027. Timed-entry tickets for “Art of Manga” are available starting at $30 at the Brooklyn Museum website. Brooklyn Museum is located at 200 Eastern Parkway.

Let’s take a field trip with @plantkween to the @brooklynmuseum to imagine a future where technology does not replace nature—it learns how to collaborate with it. 🌍✨
Some of the most exciting ideas in contemporary design are emerging where disciplines overlap: biology meeting architecture, ecology meeting engineering, and traditional craft meeting digital fabrication.
This kind of thinking is especially important as designers confront the environmental impact of fashion. New materials made from algae, fungi, food waste, and recycled fibers are challenging the idea that innovation must depend on extracting more from the planet.
Through the work of @irisvanherpen, the human body becomes part of a larger living system rather than something separate from it. Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses asks us to imagine progress not as domination over nature, but as deeper participation within it.
What might we create differently if interdependence became the starting point?
