Maybe you’re not tired because you’re running. Maybe you’re tired because of what you’re carrying. Day 34 of my countdown to 40. Keep your eyes on Jesus! Today’s message came from Hebrews 12:1–2, and I couldn’t shake the reminder that before we’re told to run the race, we’re told to lay aside every weight. As I get closer to 40, I’m thinking seriously about what I’m carrying into this next chapter. Some things aren’t necessarily bad. They’re just too heavy to keep carrying. Old frustrations, offenses, comparison, overcommitment, expectations or anything else you can identify in your life. Things God may be telling me it’s time to release. I’m not trying to compete with somebody else’s race. I want to complete mine. And to do that, I’ve got to keep my eyes on Jesus. The hardest part of obedience is building when there’s no evidence that anyone else can see. Noah didn’t wait for rain. He trusted the One who gave him the assignment. People will question your vision when they can’t see what God revealed to you. They’ll mistake your obedience for foolishness because they judge by what they see, while faith responds to what God has spoken. Remember this: Everyone looks insane before it rains. So if God gave you the assignment, don’t stop because the applause never came. Keep building.
