Federation Peak undoubtedly marks the pinnacle of my hiking and climbing experiences! Forming part of a gruelling 4-day trek, we braved this exceptionally exposed peak in Tasmania’s Southwest. The journey just to reach its base was lengthy and challenging, yet it paled in comparison to the vertical ascent to the summit. With a sheer 600m drop to Lake Geeves below, to say I was scared would be an understatement. This climb took every bit of courage I had, and to be honest, I still can’t believe I did it! Reaching the 1,224m summit is widely regarded as one of, if not the most significant hiking accomplishments in all of Australia! Want to avoid the crowds on your next hike in the Grampians? The Grampians seems to lack a variety of walks that cater more so towards intermediate and experienced hikers. Most of the trails in the park are short walks to viewpoints. These walks, however, are the ones you find with a little bit of digging - far away from the crowds and much more adventurous. 📍 The Fortress - Grade 4. - 11km return. - 2WD friendly access from Harrops Track. - Summit is off-track, the trail itself is Grade 4. 📍 Briggs Bluff - Grade 4. - 15km return to Roses Gap Road. - 2WD friendly access. - Follows Gar Waterfalls Walk (Peaks Trail). 📍 Mount Stapylton Traverse - Off-track (rock scrambling). - 6.5km loop from Hollow Mountain Carpark. - 2WD friendly access. - Lots of rock scrambling and exposure. CEDAR CREEK FALLS RETREAT near Samford Not to be confused with Cedar Creek at Mount Tambourine, this spot is located approximately 20 minutes from the village of Samford on Brisbane’s north side.

This is a great place to take a dip and cool off in summer or soak up the sun on a large rock in winter. Don’t forget to bring your food n drink for fun picnic, Kids will also be kept busy with exploring the local surrounds, supervised at all times, there are few swimming spot a long the way from parking area to waterfall.
There are no established bushwalking paths in the area, so best to stay near the creek. Just search “Cedar Creek Falls Retreat” on google maps Route/Trail notes To access Cedar Creek, begin at Samford and drive north along Mount Samson Road, then turn left into Cedar Creek Road. Continue along Cedar Creek Road until you see Andy Williams Park. You can opt to stop here, or continue along the road till you reach the end. Here are some tips for visiting this epic spot just south of Perth. ⬇ The beautiful Lake Brockman (also known as Logue Brook Dam) is a perfect day trip location, or an even better camping getaway - why not check it out for the upcoming long weekend? Located in the Darling Scarp around 10 minutes from Harvey in the southwest, this remarkable spot is just over one and a half hours from Perth. The Dam was built in 1963 to supply water for irrigation, but today it’s a popular haven for camping, water skiing, swimming, fishing, canoeing, paddleboarding, sailing, bushwalking, and mountain biking. Surrounded by the dense jarrah trees of the Hoffman State Forest and edged with red gravel, the bright aqua-blue water seems to pulsate in the sunlight. Here’s what you need to know for planning a visit: 💧 Entry to Hoffman State Forest is free. ⛺️ @lakebrockman_ Tourist Park has powered and non-powered sites, cabins and even glamping tents available. Camp fees apply. Book early as it is very popular during holiday periods. 🐶 Dogs are welcome but must stay on a lead at all times.  ☕️ Grab lunch, Devonshire tea or a coffee from the Cafe overlooking the forest and dam. 🛶 Access for swimming, fishing and launching canoes and kayaks is available along the shoreline. 🥩 Gas barbeques, picnic tables and long drop toilet on site. 🚗 You can drive all the way around the dam, mostly on a graded unsealed road (suitable for all vehicles) 🎣 Logue Brook is a trophy dam for trout. Rainbow and Brown trout can be caught all year round with a freshwater fishing license. Lake Brockman is such a great place to explore with plenty to see and do. Our 7-day traverse of Tassie’s iconic Overland Track kicked off on 18 September ❄️🥾💙 We trekked 16 kms (5.5 hrs) through a snow-blanketed Cradle Valley to the impressive Waterfall Valley Hut. Strong gusts and icy drifts made a Cradle Mountain summit too risky. Instead, we soaked up sweeping views from Marion’s Lookout 🌨🏔🤩 Barn Bluff stood tall and snow-capped in the distance — an unforgettable backdrop, while Kitchen Hut offered a welcome refuge for a break. Knee-deep drifts and slushy ice tested our legs, but by 2.30pm we reached the hut, cranked the stove and savoured our first hot brew on trail ☕️✨ Our hearts are with the family of the woman who lost her life at this very location in recent days ❤️❤️❤️ #OverlandTrack #CradleMountain #DiscoverTasmania #SnowHike #MultiDayHike #HikingAustralia #Bushwalking #WildernessCulture #TrailLife

Great lookouts, several waterfalls and a spectacular secret canyon. …… The walk is moderately challenging through narrow trails, rocky paths and obstacles with couple of stairs - that’s a true amazement that’s in store for you. ….
