I followed 5 tiny habits that helped me more than any coaching class during my CAT preparations. I am sharing these hacks with you here, try any of these for next 7 days and you will see difference! 1. Sticking a formula sheet on my bathroom door My most random hack turned out to be the most effective. Seeing those formulas every day made revision feel effortless. By the time mocks came around, half the formulas were in my head without actively “studying” them. 2. Doing 2 RCs every day This tiny habit changed everything. Two passages daily built speed, consistency, and confidence without burnout. After a few weeks, RC started feeling familiar instead of scary, and that made a big difference. 3. Reading an Aeon essay daily Aeon became my slow and steady reading gym. The essays are deep but enjoyable, so it never felt like forced prep. Over time, I could process dense ideas faster and stay calmer during long CAT passages. 4. Maintaining a tracker My tracker kept me accountable on days when motivation disappeared. Having all my tasks, mistakes, and mock scores in one place helped me see progress clearly and fix weak spots quickly. 5. Playing Sudoku My favourite “study break” that still kept my brain active. Sudoku improved my pattern recognition and helped me stay sharp even on low-energy days. I already knew my score from the response sheet and expected around 97 percentile, but I was still anxious because sometimes knowing the result doesn’t stop the fear. I had scored 75 marks, which was completely unexpected. During mocks, I never thought I’d even touch 90+ percentile. But then this was my score VARC – 41 | LRDI – 25 | QA – 9 I was hoping this would at least fetch me 70 percentile in Quants to clear sectionals, but it got downscaled to 7.03 (68.55 percentile) and I missed out on many good colleges. I’m truly grateful for my overall result. But somewhere, this sectional will always stay with me. If you’re preparing for CAT, please keep an eye on both. Don’t make the mistake I did. Three and more years of struggle, rejections, self-doubt, and relentless efforts. Now, it all feels worth it. I still remember giving CAT for the first time "just for the sake of attempting," only to realize my potential. That's when first heard about JBIMS and visited Churchgate. The moment I saw that red building, it was love at first sight. CET Was a failure, CAT percentiles came but being a GEM (General Engineer Male), the old lIMs didn't open their doors for me. With my not-so-great past academics, many doors remained closed. But JBIMS was different, a place that values talent over marksheets. That belief kept me going. I gave myself a year, reflected deeply, and worked harder. Things to remember during a stress interview: 1) Saying “I don’t know” is completely fine. You can say, “I’m not able to recall it right now, but I’ll definitely read about it’’ 2) If they still ask you to guess, don’t go blank. Start breaking the problem down and think out loud. They’re watching how you think, not whether you’re right. 3) It’s okay to take a few seconds. Just say, “Let me think for a moment.” Or ‘’let me gather my thoughts’’. 4) Even if you’re nervous inside, try not to show it too much. The more nervous you look, the more they’ll push.
