When Tucker Davis submitted his jersey design contest entry for this year’s CHKD Night at the Tides game, he had no idea what to expect. As Tucker walked onto the field, he was surprised to see his design lighting up the Jumbotron — and moments later, the Norfolk Tides team took to the field wearing jerseys featuring his artwork! The gold ribbon featured in Tucker’s design represents childhood cancer awareness, a cause deeply personal to him and his family. In 2019, Tucker came to CHKD after what seemed like a simple fall. Doctors discovered a brain tumor the size of a lime, leading to emergency surgery, weeks in the PICU, rehabilitation to relearn how to walk and talk, and months of chemotherapy treatment. Today, Tucker is cancer-free and continues to inspire everyone around him. “CHKD is the best hospital ever,” Tucker shared. A VIP (Very Important Pup) was celebrated with a retirement pawty for all of her hard work. For 8 years, SaraLee has helped provide those at CHKD with physical, mental and emotional support. Emily Rigsby told 13News Now that her son’s doctors call him a fighter. Doctors at CHKD plan to remove Landyn’s feeding and ventilation tubes today and are even fitting him into a wheelchair.
