In the very first episode of our Beacon of Hope segment on Kommon Cents University Podcast, we shine a light on a story that truly matters.
Today, we’re asking our community to come together for Daniella—a young girl in urgent need of life-saving surgery. This episode goes beyond conversation. It’s about compassion, action, and the power we all have to make a difference.
Through this segment, our hosts Kemar Jackson and Whitter remind us that even the smallest act—whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply spreading awareness—can help change a life.

Serious concerns are mounting over idle resources inside the Couva Children’s Hospital, even as operations continue on a phased basis.
Speaking at a recent media conference, Health Minister Dr. Lackram Bodoe revealed that millions of dollars’ worth of medical equipment remains unused.
TTT News was granted exclusive access to tour the hospital, getting a first-hand look at current operations and what lies behind its doors.
Nicole Dookie reports.
Health authorities have found that more than 100 children are battling kidney disease, and a passionate local doctor has helped Guyana secure a grant to enhance much-needed pediatric care. The pediatric nephrologist, Dr. Areefa Alladin on Tuesday made the disclosure.
#StarNews: Come Tuesday morning, a group of Jamaicans will join hands and hearts to walk in gratitude, sending what organisers say is a message of hope and appreciation to Cuban medical doctors and the Cuban people.

Over EC$471,000 (£130,000) raised through the Sandals Foundation’s Island Challenge is helping strengthen care for newborns in Saint Lucia.
Five new pieces of equipment have been delivered to the Special Care Baby Unit at the Millennium Heights Medical Complex: a mechanical ventilator, incubator for premature babies, neonatal warmer, bilirubin blanket, and a transcutaneous bilirubin (TCB) machine used to screen infants for jaundice.
A.A. Laquis Ltd. worked with partners to source the equipment and provide training for medical staff.
Healthcare officials say the additions will improve care for critically ill and premature babies while helping parents remain closer to their newborns during treatment.

Twin brothers, Kwandokuhle and Kwenzokuhle, were both diagnosed with RSV, a serious respiratory virus. But for baby Kwando, it was worse: a hole in his heart left him deteriorating fast, and too fragile to be transported by conventional ambulance.
That's when Netcare's ECMO retrieval team stepped in. ECMO is life support that takes over the work of the heart and lungs, giving them a chance to heal, keeping Kwando alive during the long-distance transfer and for the specialised in-hospital care he desperately needed.
Today, Kwando is home healthy, playful, and reunited with his twin brother.💙
