5 things you need to know before visiting Cascais, Portugal 🇵🇹🏖️ 🚊 How to get there You can get to Cascais by train from Lisbon in about 35 minutes. ⏱️ How long to stay I think Cascais is a great day trip destination from Lisbon, so I would recommend staying in Lisbon for 3-4 nights and including a day trip to Cascais. However, you could also spend a few nights in Cascais if you prefer smaller beach towns to bigger cities. 📆 Best time to visit I’d recommend visiting in the shoulder season (spring or fall), because the weather is pleasant, it’s not too crowded, and accommodation is cheaper whether you stay in Lisbon or Cascais. If you visit in July-August, be prepared for it to be pretty expensive, crowded, and hot. I think late May, early June, late September, and early October are great times to visit. 🗺️ Things to do 1. Swim at Praia de Santa Marta 2. Swim at Praia da Rainha or Praia Nossa Senhora da Conceição 3. Walk around the Centro Histórico 4. Take the bus to Cabo da Roca and hike to Praia da Ursa 5. See Boca do Inferno 6. Visit Praia da Arriba & Praia do Guincho 7. Visit Cascais Marina & see Cidadela de Cascais 8. Visit Mercado da Vila 💸 How much to budget The budget heavily depends on when you visit and where you stay. I would recommend spring or fall for cheaper accommodation prices. If you are staying in Cascais, I would recommend budget travelers have a budget of €40-70/day in shoulder season and €50-90/day in peak season, depending on the exact accommodation and how early you book. Budget more if you are a midrange or luxury traveler. You can also get by with a very similar (or even slightly smaller) budget in Lisbon.

Cabo da Roca was a mess. 🤮 Crazy wind, weather changing every 5 minutes, almost no light, and a sunset that looked like it was just not going to happen. Tried one line. Didn’t work. Changed position. Wind got worse. Landed. Waited. Tried again. At some point you stop chasing the shot you had in your head and just start solving problems. Then the clouds opened for literally a few seconds. That was it. Sometimes the best shots come from the days where everything goes wrong. Follow for more shot stories coming this way 🚀
