Meeting with fire officials across central Oregon this weekend. The message is clear: Trump’s cuts to firefighting personnel and resources has put our state in danger this summer.
Day 48/90 🌲 Growing up in Oregon completely ruined my sense of distance. If I can drive there, do something, grab food, and make it home before bed… apparently my brain considers it “close.” Central Oregon especially makes this worse because everything feels like it’s just a quick drive away. What’s somewhere in Oregon you still describe as “not that far”? #Oregon #CentralOregon #BendOregon
The mountains in central Oregon got quite the dusting yesterday- and it felt like another planet! #centraloregonlife #bend #sisters #oregon #cattledog
This is why I love backpacking! Join me on my annual hike around Three Sisters mountains in central Oregon.

This might be the highest-ROI hike in Oregon! ✨🧚‍♂️🌿🌀 📌 Save this for your Oregon bucket list and follow @daydreamwithanna for more outdoor inspiration If you’re exploring Central Oregon, don’t miss McKenzie River Trail – One of Oregon’s most scenic forest trails, featuring crystal-clear springs, moss-covered trees, waterfalls and the iconic blue McKenzie River. 📍 McKenzie River Trail (Sahalie Falls to Koosah Falls)
🥾 Distance: ~2.6 miles round trip (out & back between the falls) 🌀Blue Pool separately: about 4.4 miles round trip from the Blue Pool trailhead. 🥾 Full hike all 3: about 7–8 miles round trip if you hike from Sahalie to Blue Pool and back
🚗 Parking: parking lots fill up really early in summer so be prepared to wait or arrive early. 🌈 Best time to catch a rainbow? Visit Sahalie Falls on a sunny morning roughly 9–11 AM when sunlight hits the mist just right. ✨ 3 must-see highlights:
- Sahalie Falls
- Koosah Falls - Tamolitch (Blue Pool) Have you been to any of these spots? #pnw #hikingtrails #oregon #oregonexplored #waterfallhike
Vivid turquoise blue, butterflies, wildflowers…Central Oregon’s undoubtedly magical river🥹 SAVE and SHARE for your Oregon bucket list hikes🥾 FOLLOW @fitness4life4me for you own Pacific Northwest tour guide from a born and raised Oregonian🧚🌲 The Metolius River in Camp Sherman, Oregon (near the town of Sisters) is a definite must do! I have hiked this trail multiple times in different seasons and it’s always spectacular…but right now, the early summer greenery, butterflies, wildflowers, and vivid crystal clear turquoise water make it perfect! I even sat and watched the fish swim through the crystal clear waters as fly fisherman tried to catch them🐠 Video filmed June 28, 2026 There are multiple routes and distance choices. Download maps of the area as there is limited cell service. My favorite trail⬇️ 📍West Metolius River Trailhead to Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery • Distance: 5.3 miles in and out • Elevation gain: 215 feet • Difficulty: Easy • Family/dog friendly🐶 • Crowded: On nice weekends 📍Lower Canyon Creek Campground to the stunning “gushing springs” pool (where water aggressively erupts from the hillside) .4 miles downstream Easy Butterflies everywhere🦋 You can also drive right to the lava channels. They are located at the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery (no hike required). Check out the Fish Hatchery while here! Save these 30+ places to see on an Oregon road trip, all within a day’s drive of Portland⬇️ We’ve done an OR road trip each of the past few years—It’s one of the most beautiful states in the US, and definitely one of my favorites to hike and road trip. I’ve broken this itinerary down into eight of Oregon’s more scenic areas, with some of the best outdoor places that I’d recommend checking out in each. A: Columbia River Gorge🏞️ - Multnomah Falls - Wahkeena Falls - Eagle Creek Trail - Historic Highway B: Mount Hood National Forest🌲 - Mirror Lake - Trillium Lake - Lost Lake - Barlow Pass C: Willamette National Forest🌿 - Opal Lake - Breitenbush River - Detroit Lake - Breitenbush Hot Springs D: Umpqua National Forest🌳 - Toketee Falls - Watson Falls - North Umpqua River - Lemolo Lake E: Crater Lake National Park🏔 - Wizard Island - Cleetwood Cove Trail - Garfield Peak - Rim Village F: Southern Oregon Coast 🌊 - Bandon Beach - Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint - Cape Arago State Park - Charleston Marina G: Central Oregon Coast 🌊 - Newport Bayfront - Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area - Otter Crest Loop - Depoe Bay H: Northern Oregon Coast 🌊 - Cannon Beach (Haystack Rock) - Ecola State Park - Seaside Promenade - Manzanita Beach Any one of these areas makes for an awesome trip in itself, or you can do them all in one epic 2-4 week road trip. It’s about 18+ hours of total driving time to hit them all. This trip is great in the summer, so definitely add it to your end travel list. As always, feel free to message me via my website or follow me @lukekellytravels for more itineraries, hiking recommendations, and travel info. #oregon #roadtrip #pnw #portland #summer

Is this the most brutal stair hike in Oregon? This is Misery Ridge in Smith Rock State Park. This trail is almost 1000 feet of elevation gain from the river bed to the top of the rock. Along the trail there are more than 300 steps. It’s located in the hot sun of Central Oregon so dress accordingly, wear sunscreen, and hydrate! The whole hike is a beautiful experience but the stairs are only one side. Have you climbed and survived Misery Ridge?
