Meanwhile, I’ve poured real support into people: my time, my energy, my resources, my money, and my connections. I never supported people while secretly hoping they wouldn’t surpass me.
That’s the difference.
I’ve learned that everybody clapping for you isn’t rooting for you. Sometimes the competition is coming from the same people calling themselves family and friends.
I don’t compete with people I love. I want everybody around me to WIN. But if you’re privately competing with me while publicly pretending to support me, do us both a favor and stay away from me.
I see more than I speak on. ♟️

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage month during chess club today at @kippbeyond !!
Today I introduced the students to the famous documentary “Brooklyn Castle” based on the I.S 318 middle school chess team!
The kids also got the chance to play chess while eating some delicious food brought in for Hispanic heritage month.
Building and introducing the youth to cultures from around the world is extremely important.

It’s never worth it to start a relationship off with a brand or partner under false pretenses.
Their goal is to raise awareness of their thing, and if that thing isn’t your thing, politely decline and ask them to keep you in mind for work that more closely aligns with your values.

Games are always fun for kids, but parents, you can use them for so much more! I use games to help me facilitate learning for my boys. One of their favorites is chess. Not only does it teach strategy, but it is also a great way to infuse sportsmanship into their relationship. It’s been a deliberate choice of mine as a parent, and I think it’s paid off. They’re getting good at both the gameplay and sportsmanship. What more could a parent ask for?
