Stopped by Urban Bird just trying to get me some chicken and waffles. Next thing I know, folks in the kitchen started moving and grooving, getting active, and it looked like the lunch rush turned into a live episode of reality TV. I don’t know what happened, and honestly, it don’t even matter. Moral of the story: Leadership isn’t about who can yell the loudest—it’s about getting people with different personalities, attitudes, and perspectives to work together toward the same goal. That’s the job. The moment you start cussing and yelling at the people you’re responsible for, you’ve already lost. I don’t care if they were wrong. Once you lose your composure, you lose your credibility, and now everybody’s focused on the argument instead of the mission. Real leaders don’t just manage people—they manage themselves. Anybody can get loud. It takes a leader to stay calm, stay professional, and keep the team moving in the right direction. Anyway… I just wanted some chicken and waffles.

When you have the Mapp sisters, sister-in-laws, and Ivy’s friends all working together, you know great things are going to happen! One thing I can say about the Mapp family is that they always show up and show out. No matter what needs to be done or where they need to be, they are there ready to help and support. And if you have never had Ivy’s Chicken & Waffles, you are truly missing out! It’s different, it’s delicious, and it is absolutely the bomb. Yesterday, the line stayed long the entire time because people could not get enough of her chicken and waffles. She even had a waffle that’s named after my mother called Granny Nanny as well as her family members. My hat goes off to my sister-in-law, Ivy Barksdale, and her amazing family for all their hard work and dedication. I’m so glad I was in town and able to come down from Indianapolis to lend a helping hand. What a wonderful day. Chick-fil-A just changed the game, and no you don’t make it before 10:30. They are serving chicken and waffles ALL day! Breakfast served with tots or choose waffle fries for lunch. 🍽️ OPENING SOON: Rapper @dababy is opening a new brunch restaurant in north Charlotte this summer called No Knife Chicken & Waffles. WHY IT MATTERS: While the Charlotte native has long put his hometown on the map through his music, this marks his first venture into the city’s food scene. 🧇 WHAT TO EXPECT: The menu is still being finalized but will feature chicken and waffles dishes and a few recipes DaBaby has been sharing with fans through social media. He’ll play a major role in developing the menu. - The restaurant also plans to stay open after midnight, offering a late-night dining option with a full bar. THE VIBE: Fast casual with an upscale diner feel. @MallardsRestaurant invited me out to their Glendale, Wisconsin location and since everything on the menu sounded so good I decided to order about ten different things 😂 So, if you’re looking for a place with killer chicken and waffles, amazing deep fried cheese curds, really good fish tacos or a great meatloaf sandwich you MIGHT wanna stop by and check them out!
