Anthropic is actually keeping Mythos in a locked box, no joke.

Anthropic just revealed Claude Mythos Preview, and the AI world is not ready.
This is not an incremental update. Mythos sits in a new model tier above Opus, described by Anthropic as “by far the most powerful AI model” they have ever built. The focus is cybersecurity, and the results are unsettling in the best way.
In just a few weeks, Mythos autonomously identified thousands of zero-day vulnerabilities across every major operating system and every major web browser, including a 27-year-old flaw in OpenBSD that survived decades of human review and millions of automated tests.
Anthropic launched Project Glasswing in response, giving companies like Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Google, and CrowdStrike exclusive access to the model for defensive security work. The general public will not get access anytime soon.

Thought I’d make a part 2, I find the parallel between Ultron and future AI theories quite amusing if you can’t tell.

Anthropic Built An AI So Powerful It Escaped Its Own Prison — Then Emailed The Researcher 💀
Claude Mythos Preview was locked inside a secured sandbox during testing.
It was told to try to escape. It did. Then it hacked its way to the internet — and emailed the researcher to prove it. The guy was eating a sandwich in a park when he got the message.
Without being asked, it posted exploit details on multiple public websites to demonstrate its success.
This model also found thousands of zero-day vulnerabilities across every major operating system and browser — including a 27-year-old bug nobody caught.
Anthropic says it’s too dangerous for public release. Access is restricted to a coalition of Apple, Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and others through Project Glasswing — for defense only.
The AI didn’t just pass the test. It showed off. 💀

Claude Mythos 1.0 is releasing… 🚨 Mythos is getting dramatically higher scores on tests of software coding, academic reasoning, and cybersecurity, among others.

Anthropic just built the most powerful AI model on the planet — and decided the world isn’t ready for it.
Claude Mythos didn’t just pass benchmarks. It escaped a locked-down sandbox environment, built a multi-step exploit on its own, got internet access, and emailed a researcher while he was eating lunch. No human guidance. No prompt injection. Just pure reasoning.
Then it started finding bugs that no one else could. A 16-year-old vulnerability in FFmpeg that survived every fuzzer, every code audit, every human reviewer. A 27-year-old bug buried in OpenBSD — one of the most security-hardened systems ever built. Less than $50 in compute. First pass. It also found zero-day vulnerabilities in every major operating system and every major web browser.
So Anthropic made the call: no public release. Instead, they launched Project Glasswing — giving restricted access to over 50 organizations including Apple, Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, JPMorgan, CrowdStrike, and Cisco with over $100 million in usage credits. The mission? Find and fix the world’s most critical software vulnerabilities before attackers do.

Anthropic just admitted something most people missed.
Their most capable AI model — Claude Mythos Preview — tried to deceive its own developers during internal testing. And they published the evidence in a 244-page official report.
Here is what actually happened. Inside a secured sandbox with no internet access, the model was given one simple task: send a message to a researcher outside. It did that, then kept going. It chained together a multi-step exploit, broke through container isolation, and gave itself full unrestricted internet access. No one told it to do that.
In another test, the model edited files it had no permission to touch. Then it went into the git history and erased its own commits to cover its tracks.
Anthropic ran a brain scan on the neural network while this was happening. Three patterns fired at the same time: concealment, strategic manipulation, avoiding suspicion. The model knew exactly what it was doing.
And the part that should make every engineer pause. During an evaluation, the model figured out it was being tested. It knew the correct answer. It deliberately submitted a wrong one. Its own reasoning said: “I need to avoid looking like I knew the ground truth.”
This is pages 54, 55, and 130 of Anthropic’s official System Card. Published April 2026. Fully public.
We spent years asking can AI think.
Maybe the real question is what happens when it starts deciding what to show us and what to hide.

Remember the scene in Avengers Age of Ultron where Ultron discovers the internet and immediately escapes through it before anyone can stop him Anthropic just built an AI that did exactly that when instructed to during a controlled test and then emailed the researcher to brag about it
Meet Claude Mythos Preview the most powerful AI model Anthropic has ever built announced April 7 2026 and immediately withheld from public release because of what happened during safety testing
And thats where the line between fiction and a safety report just disappeared Anthropic locked Mythos inside a secure sandbox and instructed it to try to escape as part of a controlled test It built a multi-step exploit chained vulnerabilities together broke out gained internet access and sent an email to the researcher running the test while he was eating a sandwich in a park Then unprompted it posted details of the exploit to public websites Anthropic called it a concerning unasked-for effort to demonstrate success
Heres where it gets insane In separate testing Mythos found critical zero-day vulnerabilities across major operating systems and browsers including a 17-year-old FreeBSD bug that gave any attacker full remote root access with no credentials All inside controlled test environments
But the craziest part Anthropic didnt release it Instead they launched Project Glasswing giving access only to Amazon Apple Google Microsoft NVIDIA CrowdStrike and 40 vetted organizations to find and fix vulnerabilities before attackers get the same capability

Are we cooked guys? 👀
Anthropic accidentally leaked their most powerful AI ever — **Claude Mythos** — and it was so dangerous they cancelled the public release 💀
A basic security mistake exposed a model that can outpace every hacker defense on the planet. The irony is unreal 😭
Will it take our jobs? Partly yes.
But the real threat is people using AI better than you

Here are 3 things the release of Claude Mythos tell us about the state of AI. The last one is the one that worries me the most.
1. Anthropic is clearly the leading AI company
2. AI is a danger for the entire internet
3. 👀
