I would like to thank everybody who came out to visit on the studio tour in Uxbridge this past weekend. What an absolutely wonderful weekend, full of engaging conversations about Art, and everything surrounding it.
I was away on a holiday for the first time in many years, which included an amazing painting retreat in France after a time of fantastic Museums in Paris.
There I met so many wonderful people, made some fabulous new friends, and refilled that creative vessel to draw from going forward into the winter months.
Today’s my first real day getting back with my hands in clay, and it feels great !

TALLER DE MAQUETAS
CLAY MODELING
Durante el primer año, los alumnos del Car Design Master realizan las clases de modelado en arcilla polimérica con nuestro profesor Alberto Santonja, especialista en el uso del clay para el estudio volumétrico de los proyectos.
El proyecto elegido es un SUV. Partiendo de sus propios bocetos, cada alumno traslada la idea al volumen real con una maqueta completa en clay a escala 1:10 – 1:12. Es el momento en el que las proporciones dejan de ser una promesa sobre el papel y se enfrentan a la luz, al reflejo y a la mirada desde todos los ángulos. Aquí un diseño se confirma… o se corrige.
El siguiente paso es el escaneado 3D de la maqueta, que nos devuelve una malla poligonal sobre la que trabajar la retopología y llevar el proyecto a su fase digital.
Este flujo de trabajo —del sketch al clay, del clay al escaneo y del escaneo al modelo digital— es el mismo que se utiliza en la industria del automóvil y en la creación de piezas aftermarket. Por eso insistimos tanto: la mano y el software no compiten, se complementan.
