When we make every game about the scoreboard, kids lose the very reasons they showed up in the first place: friends, fun, and feeling supported.
Youth sports don’t need saving from kids. They need saving from adults who forgot what it’s supposed to be about.

Did you play club sports growing up?
Time truly flies by, seems like yesterday we started this club volleyball journey and it was the same time we started our journey towards debt freedom.
One thing we made sure of was our kids wouldn't have to make sacrifices because of our financial decisions.
We focused on zero-based budgeting and side hustles to help with our debt snowball. We had a village of family and friends who helped us as we tagged team careers, side hustles, and club volleyball.
When Syd started playing club our club fees were $700. Today we made our last club payment ever and this seasons fees were $4325. This was NOT the most expensive club fee season and this is just to play on the team. We still have hotels, flights, game entry, and more.
The experiences and the opportunities afforded to Syd during her club volleyball journey was worth every dime. I'm not going to lie I am soooo excited we don't have to make anymore club payments at least for 3 years 😉

Advice for girls…
Play sports and Play them all out.
Develop mental toughness here because you will need it desperately in this life.
Don’t give your power away.
It’s okay to be loud. It’s okay to be aggressive.
Get intimately acquainted with failure. Life will demand it of you.
Nothing teaches you this faster than high pressure moments.
Remember why you started playing. Be present in each moment because they aren’t guaranteed.
