In both of these takes, I’m reading from the script, intentionally. The difference isn’t whether I look down… it’s what happens before and after I do. In the top version, the actor disengages while the other person is speaking. The focus shifts to the page, the moment pauses, and the reaction doesn’t arrive until the line is delivered. That’s not listening, that’s waiting. In the bottom version, the actor stays connected to what’s being said. The information lands, there’s a reaction, and then the eyes briefly return to the script. The key is that the emotional connection never drops. The actor comes back up already affected by the moment and delivers the line from that place. Professional actors aren’t trying to hide the script in a cold read. They’re trying to maintain continuity of thought, emotion, and relationship, even while referencing the page. Listening isn’t about eye contact. It’s about allowing what’s being said to change you in real time. Which version felt real to you? Top or Bottom? And what reaction gave it away? 👇🎭 #acting #advice #listening #selftape #actor

The skill? Cold Reading. 🎬 It’s the ability to pick up a script you’ve never seen before and deliver it naturally — without hours of practice. Casting directors LOVE kids who can cold read because it shows confidence, adaptability, and real talent under pressure. 💬 Comment CLASS and we’ll send you the link to a free acting class where your child can practice this exact skill! #actingclass #actingaudition #laactingacademy #actingclassesforkids #bookedit #disney #nick #nickelodeon #kidactor🎬 #momager #momagers #parents #parentlife #actingtips #fyp #viraledit #viralreels

I’ve been missing monologues lately. Monologues have always had a special place in my heart. Since middle school I’ve been in love with theater. I went on to study it at a boarding arts school and later earned my BFA in Acting in college. In training, monologues always felt like the ultimate test. Not to hold someone’s attention, but to be present enough that people can meet you there and really listen to what the character needs to say. During the pandemic I entered a monologue competition hosted by @ldbcasting and won out of hundreds of submissions. It reminded me how powerful storytelling can be and how much I love this craft. Here’s a short clip of a monologue I did a cold read of. It was my first time ever reading it out loud. Keep pushing yourself. Stay vulnerable. Search for truth. #acting #oscars #art #monolgue #newyork
