Winter used to be cold, dark long and mentally tough. Now thanks to my passion of cold water therapy and the outdoors using a biohacking approaches to deal with anxiety and depression, winters are exciting looking for those frozen lakes and waterfalls and hiking the snowy peaks. #coldwatertherapy #mentalhealth #biohacking #outdooradventures #coldwaterimmersion #winterswimming #healthiswealth #coldwaterbenefits #outdoortherapy #biohacker #healthbenefits #healthandwellness #coldwater

❄️ Back to reality after our amazing ski trip, and what better way to kickstart the weekend than with an icy plunge! 🛁💪 Ice baths are not just a challenge for the mind, but they’re brilliant for the body too. Here’s why I love them: ✨ Reduces muscle soreness (perfect after skiing!) ✨ Boosts circulation and leaves you feeling energised ✨ Supports your immune system – because who has time for colds? ✨ Strengthens your mind – there’s nothing like conquering that icy fear! It’s a shock to the system, but the benefits are worth every shiver! 💙 If you’ve been thinking of trying it, this is your sign! Are you brave enough? ❄️ Also I do normally put my shoulders in but, as we had been away a lot of ice formed & I couldn’t get any lower @brassmonkeyice #IceBathChallenge #WellnessJourney #PostSkiRecovery #BoostYourBody #HealthyLiving #SelfCareRitual #ColdWaterTherapy #ImmuneBoost #MindOverMatter

06:45 Sunday October 27th just before Sunrise 🌅 This is how I level up my reset days.. I recently posted about how and why I strength train. But, whatever age you are on a health, fitness, wellbeing journey, the rest and recovery part is VERY important. Not just for muscle growth and repair, it’s also for mental health. I’m one of the view lucky people who get the privilege of living next to the English Channel. I get to walk down to the beach, watch the sunrise and swim in the water. Yes, it’s cold and yes, it’s hard but the reward comes after, when you get out and feel invincible. This is the way I reset buts it’s also a way I start my day, when I can. There’s just nothing better. #seaswim #seaswimming #seaswimengland #coldwatertherapy #coldwater #coldwaterswimminguk #healthylifestyle #wellnessjourney #sunrise #sunriseswim #coldwaterswimming #holistichealth

Cold Truths: A Nutritionist’s Perspective on Ice Baths 🧊❄️ Ice baths, or cold-water immersion, are often praised for their ability to aid muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and enhance mood through the release of feel-good endorphins. 🏃‍♀️✨ But while many, myself included, experience benefits, it’s essential to recognize that ice baths aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution and may not be suitable for everyone. 🚨 Who Should Be Cautious? Anyone with a medical condition (for example those with heart disease, Raynaud’s and also pregnant women). There has also been recent discussion whether women should avoid ice bathing compared to men… 🌀 Key Considerations for Women: 💡 Hormonal Influences: women’s immune systems are partially regulated by hormonal fluctuations like estrogen and progesterone. Cold exposure during certain phases of the menstrual cycle (e.g., the luteal phase) might disrupt immune function. A consideration as well is that during the luteal phase (the second half of the menstrual cycle, beginning right after ovulation), a woman’s core body temperature rises by about 0.5-1℉, largely due to the thermogenic effect of progesterone (increasing blood flow to the skin) – which may exacerbate physiological stress the body is exposed to extreme temperature changes. 💡 Chronic Use & Overexposure: overdoing ice baths can elevate cortisol (a stress hormone), potentially suppressing immune function and making the body more vulnerable to illness. 💡 Cold Immune Stress: for women with lower body fat or circulation issues, cold-water immersion may temporarily weaken immune defenses by reducing the effectiveness of white blood cells (WBC’s). ✨ The Bottom Line: Ice baths can be a fantastic tool for muscle recovery and mood enhancement. However, women should take extra care, considering factors like hormonal fluctuations and individual health. Ultimately, listen to your body, and when in doubt, consult a healthcare professional before taking the plunge! 🩺
