When I first decided to study Cosmetic Science, was so excited to enter the beauty world , but there are a few things I wish someone had told me earlier. So If you’re thinking about this path (or already on it), here’s what I’ve learned: 1️⃣You never stop studying. The EU/UK cosmetic regulations are constantly changing, and new ingredients/ technologies are always being introduced. To stand out in this field, you need to commit to lifelong learning 📚 2️⃣The UK cosmetic industry is small and niche. That doesn’t mean there aren’t opportunities but it does mean you should consider having a backup or transferable degree/skills. Many cosmetic scientists also study areas like pharmaceutical science or chemistry to keep their career options wide.💡 3️⃣ Experience matters BUT passion speaks louder. If you can’t secure placements, start building a portfolio. Show that you can formulate, research, or create projects on your own. A portfolio can get you noticed when traditional “experience” isn’t there. 🔬✨ The truth is, cosmetic science is an exciting but competitive field.
