Behind every beauty product on the shelf is a manufacturer, an ingredient supplier, months (sometimes years) of development... and often a trade show like this. I spent two days walking the halls of Cosmoprof in Bangkok, meeting suppliers, testing new formulations, discovering new ingredient technologies and seeing what’s likely to shape the beauty industry over the next 12–24 months. One thing I love about building a beauty brand is that you’re constantly learning. The industry never stands still, and neither should you. My biggest takeaway? Encapsulated skincare is only going to get bigger! 👀 Safe to say my feet are feeling the 15,000+ steps... but it was worth every one. Every July for the past 23 years (!!), the beauty industry has descended on Las Vegas for Cosmoprof North America. There are more than 1,000 brands and exhibitors from more than 100 countries, spanning skin care, nails, hair care, makeup, wellness, packaging and more. While it’s hard to meet every brand and founder in the massive Mandalay Bay Convention Center, we did our best and clocked 20,000+ steps a day going up and down the aisles, swiping on serum, spritzing perfume and getting to the bottom of all the industry chatter. O sonho, porém, começou muito antes, ainda em sua adolescência, quando maquiava colegas, e se estendeu durante os seus 20 anos como maquiadora. Na entrevista acima, ela relembra sua trajetória, comenta o que viu de melhor em sua imersão por lá e adianta o que podemos esperar da nova marca. Dá o play! The dreaded blue lift. If you’ve been a vibrant stylist for more than 6 months, im almost positive you’ve run into this. 🥴 Here’s the deal… the blue molecule is the hardest to get out of the hair. I’m sure there are scientific stylists on IG that can tell you why, but I’m not here for that. Im here to tell you what to do if this happens: ✨from the start, you want to be honest with your client. Any time you’re putting in blue, green and most purples, it’s going to lift out blue/green. Let them know before you even touch their head with cool colors that they most likely won’t be able to go across the color wheel. ✨use @malibucpro ddl xl with water… (under heat if you know the persons hair well). Heat is not recommended by them but I’ve found with water (not developer) it’s fine 90% of the time. Ddl has the best chance of getting out those blues. Usually a color remover or lightener will just expose more of the tone, leaving you with an even brighter blue. I did not use ddl here because i knew i could work with this (we went neon/teal green) ✨Color shift with toners. If she really wanted warm tones, we could get to a point of deep pinks and oranges. I would tone her with a rose gold/copper toner at a level 7/8. I would also not just leave it there and walk away. I would work it in and watch to make sure it was neutralizing and not over taking the blue and turning it muddy. If the corrective formula is too light, it won’t do much. If it’s too dark, it can make it too deep and muddy to get good vibrancy out of it. Has this happened to you? Has this color made you cry in the back room? Were any of these tips helpful?
