〰️LET GO OF WHAT YOU CAN’T CONTROL & FOCUS ON WHAT YOU CAN〰️ When life is feeling overwhelming or out of control, whether it’s work, home life, being a mother, or trying to juggle everything at once, try to accept that you can’t control everything. One person is not supposed to juggle everything all by themselves! It’s just not possible in today’s world, particularly for women! Particularly for mothers! DIY for me is one thing I know I can control. When I was at the worst point with my postnatal depression, I refocussed my mind and body into projects. I started building, fixing, transforming. It helped me immensely to refocus, gain control, take pride in my abilities, make decisions and act on them. It grounded me and allowed me to take my frustrations out on power tools 🧰 During labour I had no control, no power, no say in what was happening to me. I put my complete trust into the professionals who were supposed to take care of me and they didn’t. I was left feeling helpless and powerless. A similar loss of control is felt when I’m all touched out and overwhelmed from sensory overload. Breastfeeding, being the only parent he wants, him wanting to be constantly held or played with, twiddling (GOD I HATE THE TWIDDLING 🤬😩🤮), being pulled at and clung to, ‘mummy’ constantly echoing around the house and not given a seconds peace. It can be a LOT, particularly when you’re not in the right headspace, sleep deprived and have ADHD! God I love him, I’d give my life for him, but it’s so easy for mothers to lose themselves, their temper, and their mind, without an outlet. Maternal rage is real! We all need our personal space, me time, and to be in control of something and be able to focus on one singular thing with no interruptions. No one touching you or talking to you.. peace.
