You MUST tell your builder this before the slab is poured. 🛑 Have them run a continuous sleeve around the main water line, from outside the foundation, under the dirt, all the way up through the slab to the shutoff. A larger conduit or PVC pipe with long-sweep elbows on the turns, so the water line lives inside it. Custom builders call it pre-sleeved PEX or a pipe-in-pipe main. Here’s why nobody does it on a low-bid build. It costs a couple hundred bucks in extra material and labor and the homeowner doesn’t know to ask. So they skip it. And the main line just gets buried directly under the slab. Then five or ten years from now that line develops a leak, a fitting fails, or the line gets damaged underground. The only way to fix it is jackhammering through your living room floor, busting up the slab, ripping up your hardwood or tile.
