About a year ago I was on a sourcing trip in China/Korea/Japan and I was rockin the black pearlized vans the whole trip. Loved em but ran em into the ground and left em back in China at the hotel. @rickowensonline ‘Deconstructed Silence’ 🪡 Originally released in 2007, these re-edition pair of Rick Owens Vans, is based off the ‘Old Skool’ model made with a chunkier silhouette and premium materials. For this custom I wanted to use three different types of denim, creating a different patchwork for each side of the shoe. The fabric pieces were entirely hand-sewn requiring a total of 60 hours of labor. These custom Vans marbled up nicely! It was a fun experiment to try hand marbling onto shoes. I made the gold paint by hand from powder pigment to get a rich sparkly metallic gold. I'm really happy with how these turned out. I had the opportunity to practice multiple techniques in the marbling process.
