Nigel Farage has called Welsh people “Foreign speakers” in a Cameo video. I hate to break it to you Mr Farage, but if you read a history book you would realise English is more foreign in the UK than Welsh. He said: “Gutted I couldn’t attend the wedding. I wanted to come, but I heard that half the guests were Welsh, and I don’t know. Who knows what would have happened with all those foreign speakers there. I don’t know.” This is at a time that his party are trying to convince people in Wales that they should elect them to the Welsh Parliament. 🏵 DAFFODIL FOLKLORE 🏵 The daffodil is famous as the national symbol of Wales, replacing the leek in the 19th century. It is a wild flower that grows all over Britain, Ireland and Europe, and is one of the first flowers to bloom in spring. Often gracing roadside, gardens, woodlands and field boundaries. The daffodil, like all wildflowers, is intrinsically connected to the faery folk and the Scottish believe if you step on or pick one then you risk angering the fae. In Welsh folklore, the first person to spy a daffodil in bloom will have a fortunate year, usually of gold and silver. In traditional herbalism, the daffodil, although being a toxic plant, was used to treat tumours and alleviate pain. Although it has to be said that ingesting daffodils will cause sickness and vomiting, so best avoid this remedy! Interestingly, however, these toxic chemicals are cultivated in modern medicine and used in the production of alzheimers and dementia treatments. The daffodil is often worn by people on St.Davids day, the 1st of March.
