DIY patio for under £100! 🪴 Really pleased with how this turned out, two full days of labour and help from wills Mum and Mike we’ve managed to turn an unusable rubble patch into a useable patio🌻 Using the slabs and sleepers that were already in the garden pre extension, along with a ton bag of sand, a few bags of stones and a bit of cement. It’s no where near perfect but until we can afford to do it properly next summer this will be just fine 🙌🏼 #patio #diypatio #diygarden #diygardening #gardening #garden #patiodecor #patiofurniture
2 days of hardwork condensed into less than 60 seconds! 🤍 We’ve been wanting to extend our back patio since we bought this house almost 1 year. Thankful for my husband supporting all my highly ambitious DIY projects! I can’t wait to get some furniture out here, plant flower beds, and invite some friends over to enjoy it all summer long! 🌳🐝🌞🌱 #DIYpaverpatio #DIYpatio #paverpatio #homeprojects #backyardupgrade
I had a few disasters while laying our gravel patio feature... Another 2 bonus ones that didn't make the list were: 1️⃣ I broke my @stihlgb eardefender visor, which is now hanging from one side 2️⃣ I managed to lose one of my @isotunes earbuds... I've looked high and low - it's nowhere to be found 🥹 BUT... you'd think these disasters, along with the hard graft, would sour the experience... but you're wrong. Let me tell you WHY... 👷‍♀️ Experiencing disasters makes you stronger and wiser for the next DIY challenge. If everything went swimmingly, you'd learn a lot less from your mistakes. 👷‍♀️ Challenges are like someone telling me I can't do something. And frustration can develop into determination to prove yourself and others wrong. 👷‍♀️ Having a lovely community I've built up over the years on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook encourage and motivate me with their feedback and suggestions to improve on each project. 👷‍♀️ I'm basically hooked on DIY... I get an andrenaline rush during and seeing huge transformations, giving me a sense of pride and accomplishment (almost) each, which fuels each project 👷‍♀️ I know how much money I'm saving on each job and I can always taste the finishing line (but am often time blind of the reality of how long something will really take. 👷‍♀️ I love sharing my journey and knowledge, so hopefully I can inspire you to do the same, while also warning you of any pitfalls, or mistakes. Things are NEVER sugarcoated.. we need REAL DIY experiences to be shared on here. How do you handle mistakes or setbacks during a project? #patiobuild #patioproject #diydisaster #womenwhobuild #womenwhodiy #diygarden #diypatio #diygravel #girlswhodiy #gardenproject
DIY PATIO It was a labour of love the patio, and full credit goes to my husband. Our sun sets towards the bottom of the garden and we were constantly pulling chairs up chasing the sun in the afternoon 🙈 SO, we made the plunge & started the patio last Spring. I won’t lie it was grafting at times & there were so many other things to consider (the slope for water drainage, packing it in, levelling it off, how the new fence sits against it, laying the tiles!) We had various quotes and they were eye watering. Looking back it’s probably as it’s such hard graft. The sense of achievement is something else though, and we are so excited to fully use it this year. I have a patio edit in my highlights & prev pr details are below 👇🏻 Tiles @rfpaving Fence @forestgardenltd @therangeuk . . . #patio #diypatio #patioseason #diy #diygarden #diyhomeprojects #diyhome #fence

The perfect DIY pergola system doesn’t exi— just kidding, I totally found it, y’all. #ad The most important part of this build was finding the right bracket system. I knew I wanted something simple, modern, and DIY friendly and when I came across @linx.pergola, I was immediately intrigued. Not only did LINX have the brackets that fit my vision, they also had their STIX engineered hollow timbers that work perfectly with the brackets, are lighter than standard lumber, and can be used to hide cords for lighting. I stained the timbers an off black color to complete the modern vibe and then started assembling. The LINX system took a ton of guesswork out of the build, with all the timbers sliding easily into the brackets, and securing with the provided screws. @linx.pergola is super DIY friendly, but it’s also totally customizable with tons of different brackets available. I was able to build this custom roof out of @wildhogproducts fence panel, which will be perfect for my hops to climb on during the summer. LINX pergola and STIX engineered timbers made this whole process super simple and easy, especially for the DIYer. The directions are straightforward, and if you’re like me and scheme up custom ideas, it’s easy to create the pergola of your dreams! A week off in the British sunshine to relax?! I think not 😅 Finally the right weather to give this neglected patio some TLC 🤗. Since we laid the patio about 4 years ago it’s pretty much been ignored and the slabs are covered in mould and black spots, plus the mortar is crumbling in lots of places 😬. So to start with, gave the (non-crumbling) joins a clean to remove the weeds, moss and dirt. Then pressure washed to try and lift the grime but it wasn’t budging!! So out with the patio treatment and pressure sprayer and OMGGG was this the most satisfying thing to watch…. It started fizzing away at that mould immediately 🤩. Once washed and dried, I’d say it removed 90% of it so I went over some patches a second time and then it was all gone 🥳. BUT this didn’t make the broken mortar look any better 😑 so we decided it was time to chisel it all up and start again 😅. This was MESSY and took just as long to clean up as it did to chisel it all out 😮‍💨. There were some gaps that were pretty deep so we used rapid set postcrete in those (so that we didn’t have to use too much top compound as it’s fairly spenny!) Then got to work with the fast fix compound. You get about an hour to work with each bag - wet the area, brush it in, tamp it down, brush again, smooth it off, brush again and pretty much just repeat until the joins are full and you’ve used all the excess. Then repeat in the next section with the next bag of compound. The join compound can take up to 5 days to fully cure so I’m waiting for that. Then I’ll seal the whole thing which should hopefully revive the slab colour and protect the patio from getting as bad as this for a good while🤞🤞. #gardenproject #gardenmaintenance #patiocleaning #diy #diyprojects #diyhome #diypatio #diygarden
DIY patio installation guide. Here’s the process I followed to lay my own patio: • Remove the topsoil and prepare a solid base • The finished patio should be 100-150mm below dpc • Add and compact 100-150mm MOT Type 1 aggregate • Mix a strong mortar bed 4:1 sharp sand/cement • Prime the back of porcelain tiles • Lay slabs with a slight fall of 1:60 for drainage • Use levelling clips for a perfectly flat finish • Remove clips after 24 hours • Finish with brush-in grout Take your time on the groundwork and the rest becomes much easier. Save this if you’re planning a DIY patio project. Tiles are Bellevue white from @tilemountainuk #DIYPatio #PorcelainPatio #PatioInstallation #diygarden

If you’ve been thinking about laying your own patio this year, then this video is for you - save for later! I reckon we saved at least £2k doing this ourselves and I can confirm it’s still standing 2 years later! The materials for this project cost about £1,400 (summer 2022) and then we paid to hire some equipment. Our patio is about 10m squared. I did so much research on patio slabs and decided on porcelain for their longevity. However these ones are quite hard to keep clean and do seem to stain quite a bit 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thank goodness for the outdoor rug! Note that the depth you’ll need to dig to will depend on the depth of your tiles. Let me know if you’d have a go at this yourselves! #diypatio #patiodesign #diygarden #smallgardenideas #patiodecor
