My resolution, H.R. 432, passed the House of Representatives, designating April as #DonateLife Month — and this cause means so much to me personally.
As a proud member of the Board of Directors for Center for Organ Recovery & Education, I’ve seen firsthand how organ, tissue, and cornea donation can change lives. One selfless decision can offer hope, healing, and a second chance to so many individuals and families.
This month—and every month—I encourage everyone to learn more, register as an organ donor, and have important conversations with your loved ones about your wishes. The gift of life is one of the greatest gifts we can give. #watch #beahero #organdonation
Very few people can become an organ donor.
Here’s the break down in numbers: 👇
🏥 Each year around 89,000 people die in Australian hospitals, but not all of them can be considered for organ donation.
🩷 Last year only around 1,670 people died in a way that organ donation could be considered.
✅ of those, 1,500 families were asked about donation and 790 said yes.
🤗 This resulted in 557 people becoming donors.
With such a small number of potential donors, it’s so important to register. And, tell your family you want to be a donor so they know what you want at the end of your life.

Organ donation is surrounded by questions and misconceptions. Who gets the organ? Does age matter? Does your health history make you ineligible to donate?
The facts are reassuring. Organ allocation is based on medical criteria and priority, not wealth or social status. And whether someone can donate is determined medically at the time of donation.
One donor can potentially give up to eight people a chance at life.
Let your last gift be someone’s next chance.

Today, we honor the donors and families whose generosity gave others more time.
More mornings.
More laughter.
More milestones.
More ordinary, beautiful days.
On National Donor Day, we pause to remember the lives saved, the families forever connected, and the power of saying yes.
If you’re registered as an organ donor, thank you.
If you’re not, consider learning more.
One decision can change everything. 💚

Want to save lives as an organ donor but not sure how it actually happens?
As DonateLife nurse Georgie explains, registering to be an organ donor and telling your family can make all the difference. Every opportunity for donation is precious, and knowing what you wanted can make a difficult time a little easier for your family. DonateLife Week kicks off tomorrow so it’s the perfect time to register as an organ and tissue donor and tell your family you want to be a donor. A simple conversation today could make a big difference tomorrow. 🩷
It only takes one minute to register at donatelife.gov.au or through Medicare.

This morning, I was honored to receive the 2026 Legislative Champion Award from Donate Life California - a recognition that reflects the power of advocacy, compassion, and community.
After the ceremony, I had the privilege of meeting with Prasad Garimella and Montielle Brandman, whose stories remind us what this work is truly about.
Montielle shared the story of her “angel daughter,” Alexis Lorraine, whose legacy lives on through the gift of tissue donation. Alexis gave others a second chance at life and healing - an act of generosity that continues to ripple far beyond her lifetime.
These are the stories that ground our work. They remind us that behind every policy, every bill, and every vote are real people, real families, and real impact.
You can be part of that impact.
When you visit the DMV, say YES to organ and tissue donation and register for the pink dot on your driver’s license. One decision can save lives, restore sight, and give hope to families across California.

💚 Today is PA Donor Day! 💚
Right now, more than 6,000 Pennsylvanians—including hundreds here in Delaware County—are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Yet nearly half of eligible Pennsylvanians are not registered as organ donors.
The good news? Anyone can register—regardless of age, health status, or medical history. It takes just 60 seconds, and one donor can save up to 8 lives while helping many more through tissue donation.
Today, consider registering as an organ donor and share your decision with your loved ones.
