Margaret Theresa of Spain was born in 1651, she was the daughter of King Philip IV of Spain and one of the most recognizable princesses of the Spanish Habsburg court. Like many royal girls of her time, her future was shaped by dynasty before she was old enough to choose it.
In 1666, at just 15 years old, Margaret Theresa married her uncle, Emperor Leopold I. The match was meant to strengthen Habsburg power and keep royal bloodlines tightly bound within the family.
As empress, she faced immediate pressure to produce heirs.
Margaret Theresa was pregnant seven times in just a few years. She gave birth four times, suffered miscarriages, and only one child survived to adulthood: Maria Antonia of Austria.
In 1673, four months into her seventh pregnancy, Margaret Theresa died.
She was only 21 years old.

Margaret Tudor was the eldest daughter of Henry VII of England and the older sister of Henry VIII.
At 13, she was sent to Scotland to marry 30-year-old James IV, sealing a fragile peace between the two kingdoms. What began as a political alliance became a reportedly affectionate marriage.
They had six children. Five died young.
Only one survived infancy — the future James V of Scotland.
In 1513, James IV was killed at the Battle of Flodden while invading England. Margaret was 23, pregnant, and suddenly a widow. Their posthumous son died in infancy.
She became regent for her baby son, but when she remarried, she lost power and was forced into political exile. She later returned to Scotland, divorced, and married again. Her relationship with her son was strained for years due to factional politics, though they eventually reconciled.
Margaret died at 51 in Scotland.
Through her daughter Margaret Douglas and her son James V, she became grandmother to Mary, Queen of Scots, and grandmother to Lord Darnley. Her great-grandson was James VI and I, who united the English and Scottish crowns.

The side-eye from Princess Margaret was in a league of its own—sharp, expressive, and impossible to ignore. She didn’t need to say a single word; one glance was enough to make the entire room understand exactly what she was thinking. It was confident, a little rebellious, and completely unforgettable, the kind of reaction that could steal attention even in the most formal setting.
Moments like that showed her personality so clearly. While royal life often demanded composure and restraint, she had a way of letting her emotions show in subtle but powerful ways. That famous side-eye wasn’t just a look—it became a symbol of her wit, her independence, and the bold spirit that made her stand out in every crowd.
In 1949, anthropologist Margaret Mead completed a comparative study across 52 distinct cultures. Her finding: every society that produced psychologically stable adult men had one architectural element in common. A formal masculine initiation. A ritual in which the boy’s prior identity was deliberately and irreversibly dismantled before a man’s identity was constructed in its place.
The ritual varied. The function was identical. The boy did not grow into a man. He was broken open into one.
Modern Western culture eliminated this architecture within a single generation. The result is not men who bypassed a ritual. It is men who aged physically without the psychological dismemberment the architecture was designed to produce.
A client said: “I have been waiting my entire adult life to feel like I became something. I keep achieving things. The feeling never arrives.”
Deida calls this the uninitiated masculine: a man in his forties still waiting for permission from an external source to occupy his own life. Still performing boyhood’s transaction: if I achieve enough, someone will confirm I have arrived.
No achievement produces that confirmation because achievement was never the ritual. The ritual required loss. The deliberate stripping of the prior self before the adult self was permitted to form.
Van der Kolk’s research on identity and trauma confirms what Mead documented ethnographically: the nervous system requires a genuine threshold experience to reorganize around a new identity structure. Without it, the old structure continues running regardless of what accumulates on top of it.
