🦒STANDING TALL: A baby giraffe was born at Dallas Zoo in late September. Weighing just over 150 pounds and standing 5 feet 8 inches tall, the male calf quickly was able to quickly stand and take a few wobbly first steps.

Meet Jaco, our new six-banded armadillo pup, born on April 4 to parents Jolene and Chaco. His name is the perfect mash-up of mom and dad. Jaco is behind the scenes for now, getting lots of love and care from our amazing team, but we’ll let you know when he’s ready for his big debut!

The best things come in small, armored packages... we have armadillo babies!
Jolene, our six-banded armadillo, gave birth to two precious pups on April 20, marking the first-ever successful armadillo birth at the Dallas Zoo! WATCH to see first-time mom Jolene getting an ultrasound during her two-month pregnancy.
The little ones, named Rough and Tumble, received special care from our animal care team for the first few weeks after birth, as Jolene did not initially show much maternal instinct. The team provided around-the-clock care, including supplemental feedings to ensure the pups were healthy and growing. Now, at almost two months old, these little ones are thriving. Keep your eyes peeled to see how tiny they were at just days old!

Girl’s Day Out at the @dallaszoo featuring @dippindots! 🐘🐒🦍🦒🍨
I’ve been cooped up inside way too long with our flood remodel, so I invited friends for a girls day out! I picked the zoo because why not? None of us have been since our kids were babies and it just sounded like fun!
We had to stop for treats when we saw @DippinDots, and of course tried all of the flavors. Exploring the zoo with #dippindots added an extra layer of adventure to our day!
I joke that the only thing that motivates me to get my steps in for the day is to be at a theme park having to walk to get to all the treats! I can easily walk 30,000 steps no problem if food and fun is involved. LOL!

El público ayudó a elegir el nombre de una de las nuevas crías de tigre de Sumatra nacidas el pasado 22 de febrero. La pequeña fue llamada “Rina”, en honor a una guardabosques del proyecto Sumatran Ranger Project, mientras que su hermano recibió el nombre de “Serasi” para recordar a otro defensor de la vida silvestre en Sumatra. 🌿
Las crías, hijas de la tigresa Suki, ya comenzaron a explorar su hábitat y el zoológico asegura que ambas muestran personalidades muy diferentes. 🐾 Mientras Serasi es más tímido y cauteloso, Rina se ha convertido en toda una aventurera, alejándose de mamá para recorrer cada rincón del lugar.
🌎 Los tigres de Sumatra son la subespecie más pequeña de tigre y están en peligro crítico de extinción, ya que quedan menos de 600 ejemplares en libertad, según la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza.

Meet the newest little one in our troop, baby GIRL born on Saturday, April 26, to first-time mom Maria! Maria is adjusting beautifully to motherhood, with her own mom, Amelia, close by for support (and with a little one of her own!).
Our zoologists are still working on a name, but this sweet girl and mom are starting to spend time out on habitat alongside Amelia and Kalent. Our hearts are absolutely melting watching these moms care for their babies together. Come visit and help us welcome the newest member of the troop!
