Meet the telescope fish, no this isn’t something we asked AI to make this is a REAL animal found at crushing depths in our ocean...   📽️  Dr. G. David Johnson, Smithsonian Institution  #halloween #spooky #deepsea #fish
Should I get one for the shop? 🦑😅(This squid was accidentally hooked and released back into the ocean) 🎥: @yonemorikouta #squid #giantsquid #seamonster #seamonsters #sealife #seacreatures #seaanimals #colossalsquid #marinecreatures #deepsea #deepseafish
🌑🐟 Small fish… massive fangs. This AI-generated deep‑ocean documentary clip shows a fangtooth fish (Anoplogaster cornuta) hovering in a research sub’s floodlights—marine snow falling—until one quick, quiet intercept makes a small fish vanish in a clean bite, then it slips back into the black. 🌊 #AIVideo #AIGenerated #DeepSea #DeepOcean #FangtoothFish #AnoplogasterCornuta #OceanDepths #Underwater #MarineLife #SeaLife
Fresh finds from the deep sea. These species were recorded with remote underwater cameras here in Vanuatu. 🇻🇺 We use our deep-sea cameras to explore and document marine life at depths up to 6,000 meters, providing valuable data that supports our country partners' marine spatial planning and ocean protection efforts.
A large Deepsea Angler fish (scientific name: Himantolophus groenlandicus) I taxidermied 4 years ago. This one is 45 cm (18”) in size. Coming from the darkest depths of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a “fishing rod” with a luminous lure on the top of it’s head to attract prey. The skin is covered with razor sharp spikes. #anglerfish #monsterfish #deepsea #deepseafish #deepseacreatures #fangtooth #monkfish #monsterart #monsterdesign #800down #kingsofthedeep #fishtaxidermy #taxidermy #cabinetofcuriosities #wunderkammer #fishphotography #fishphoto #weirdfish #creepy #scary #specialfx #creatureart #creaturedesign #tattooinspiration #nightmarefuel #fishskull #skull
The Telescope Fish (Gigantura indica) is one of the strangest predators of the deep. Found in tropical and subtropical oceans between 500–2000 meters, it has rarely ever been seen alive in its natural habitat. In 2001, MBARI’s ROV Tiburon captured rare footage of a pair at 1214 meters near the Hawaiian Islands. With its tubular eyes and large lenses, this fish is built to spot glowing prey or silhouettes drifting in the dark. It’s so specialized that it can even swallow prey larger than itself. Its shiny, reflective body comes from a coating of silvery guanine instead of scales, and its name Gigantura comes from its long ribbon-like tail. This footage was published alongside the study “Osteology of the telescopefishes of the genus Gigantura (Brauer, 1901), Teleostei: Aulopiformes” by Peter Konstantinidis and G. David Johnson, in the Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society (2016). natural_sceneria Face to face with the ocean’s ancient giant, this moment captures the raw power and mystery of the deep blue. A reminder of how small we are against nature’s legends, where silence, scale, and awe collide beneath the waves, turning fear into respect and wonder. #natural_sceneria #OceanGiant #DeepSea #MarineLife #UnderwaterWorld SeaMonster OceanPower WildNature DeepBlue Adventure Awe @natural_sceneria ocean, deep sea, giant fish, underwater, marine life, nature power, ocean predator, blue water, wildlife, adventure

Took me a minute to find out what Kind of fish this is. One of the cooler looking critters I’ve pulled up from 800 feet. Can anyone name it??? #Deepseafish #deepdrops #isittoxic #anyfishanywater
After nearly 1000 dives and 15 years of diving I finally was very lucky to see this beautiful sunfish - the size of this individual was around 2.5m They normally stay in depths of several hundreds of meters, but occasionally go shallow to get cleaned. Going down to 40m at 16C cold water was worth the few seconds being close to this stunning animal. #sunfish #mondfisch #molamola
