This kind compassionate loving friend Sandy Warnick was, along with @stanlathan, a key partner with def comedy jam he fought to empower us in every way he could He came to every taping of every show with the same happy loving tolerant spirit … I remember once when he was challenged/ questioned about producing the show with fruit of Islam (nation of Islam) security (which we used for every single show) His response was classic “they are incredibly sweet and humble to me and i have nothing but appreciation for their professionalism” That was a lot to me in a time where people especially Muslims and Jews where so polarized He and Bernie Brillstein (god bless him too) were honorees and raised lots of money for our muslim jewish programs at foundation for ethnic understanding ..:and he quietly donated not only money which he had plenty ..but time which we all know is the ultimate gift rest in peace big brother mentor and friend SANDY WERNICK
When I moved to LA (although I was already a working comedian) I got back into the dance world to make some money. But God was using it to introduce me to my heroes & new family. At an Usher audition I see an older gentleman sitting in the corner watching us freestyle. I then realize he was Greg Campbellock Jr from the legendary LOCKERS. I shook his hand to pay respects and the first thing he said to me was “I would love to train you in Locking.” What he didn’t know is I emulated him on my opening joke on DEF COMEDY JAM. Full circle moment for me.
So I began training with him and my brother @flomaster73 , who was already incredible. Greg’s first lesson was just DANCE. His favorite song to warm up to was James Brown MAKE IT FUNKY. It has the perfect pace and bounce and helps you lock in the fundamentals of the dance.
So me and my brother Flo have been trying to do this video for almost a year… and here we are. Honoring our brother and teacher Greg. Keeping it FUNKY.
Happy 2025. Keep DANCING‼️🔥🔥🔥🕺🏽🕺🏽
