'Tristesse' was my very first published composition. One of the most rewarding aspects of releasing my own heartfelt music was that people started playing the piece themselves and sending me their videos. This way I've had the privilege of being in direct contact with those who listen to my music and are also pianists. Many times, I've been asked how 'Tristesse' was structured and whether I had any tips on how to approach certain aspects of the composition. As a full-on piano nerd myself, I love to talk about these things and hopefully inspire other pianists to play and compose. That's why I recorded a series of short tutorials -or explainers, if you like- for those who feel like playing their own version of it. You'll find the sheet music on delangepiano.com Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to discuss. xDL

Today, Tristesse turns six. My very first release — and debut as a composer-pianist. So one could say it wrote me, rather than the other way around — as did you, dear listeners. Your messages and support for this piece over the years have meant more than I can say xDL

‘Tristesse’ was my first composition to be released, and it has always held a special place in my heart. Therefore, I am filled with pride and joy that listeners voted for this piece to be included in the Classical Top 400 on Dutch radio @npoklassiek. It proudly joins the ranks of the great composers, both historical and contemporary, as the third highest new entry. This afternoon, between 5 and 6 pm Amsterdam time, ‘Tristesse’ will be broadcast on air by @andreavanpol. I want to express my gratitude to enthusiasts @janvpoppel and @maartenwijkvan for promoting new classical music, particularly ‘Tristesse’ on the radio. And, most of all, you who voted for my composition🤍. Of course, I'll play 'Tristesse' in my show on October 28th in @concertgebouw Amsterdam

These are the notes of ‘Waltz For The Long Goodbye,’ a piano solo piece from my debut album ‘Images.’ Initially, when I began releasing the sheet music for my compositions, I refrained from marking phrasing and dynamics, allowing performers to interpret them freely. However, I might have shifted away from that approach since then ;) You can find the sheet music through the link in my bio or at delangepiano.com. Have a great week xDL

This is the first of a series of interviews filmed in the conductor's chamber of The Royal Concertgebouw. Here, we talk about the initial concept of incorporating a brass section which ultimately resulted in live performance with the horn quartet on stage on that same night. On Monday, the official music video for my latest composition 'Boy of the Sea' will be released, featuring both on and off stage footage captured by @hessel.stuut Have a great weekend. xDL
