From hatid-sundo passenger princess to strong independent driver yarn? 😂 You are never too late to learn something new. ✨ Finally took driving lessons with Arl Venz Driving School. 🚘🛞 This happened back in March, and I’m only sharing it now because, as always, I wanted the moment to be mine first before putting it out there. 💛 Arl Venz Driving School is LTO-accredited, with branches in Angeles, San Fernando, and Mexico, Pampanga, offering Online and Face-to-Face Theoretical Driving Courses (TDC), Practical Driving Courses (PDC), and Driving Enhancement Programs (DEP). One of the most common mistakes beginner drivers make is oversteering when changing lanes. Turning the steering wheel too much can make your lane change less smooth and reduce your control of the vehicle. ✅ Instead, make a small steering input (about 10°) and let the car move naturally into the next lane. Smooth steering = better control and a safer lane change. You can learn to drive at 16 in Australia!! 😦 A little different to the UK, where you have to wait until you’re 17 before you can even get behind the wheel and do a lesson! My son’s just booked his driving test for just after his 17th birthday, so here’s how it works in Queensland 👇 16 years old • You can get your Learner Licence (Ls) by passing PrepL or the written road rules test. • The learner licence will cost you around $86 for 12 months. • You have to drive with a fully licensed supervisor. • L plates must be displayed. • If you’re under 25, you also need to do 100 supervised driving hours, including 10 hours at night. (Queensland Government) • Driving lessons are also not mandatory • Most kids just get an automatic licence, which I originally thought was crazy, they need to get a manual. But actually, all cars are automatic so why bother 17 years old You can go for your Ps (P plates) if you: • Have held your Ls for at least 12 months • Completed your 100-hour logbook • Passed the Hazard Perception Test • Passed your practical driving test. (Queensland Government) Red Ps (P1) • You need to stay on Red Ps for at least 12 months. • If you’re under 25, you then move on to Green Ps, as long as you meet the requirements. (Queensland Government) Green Ps (P2) • Usually held for 2 years if you got your P2 before age 25. • After that, you can move up to an Open Licence. (Queensland Government) Demerit points • Learners (Ls): licence suspended if you get 4 or more demerit points in 12 months. • P1 (Red Ps): licence suspended at 4 or more demerit points in 12 months. • P2 (Green Ps): licence suspended at 8 or more demerit points in 3 years. • Open Licence: 12 points in 3 years. Some of you might have noticed I’ve been off here for a while. It’s not due to any other reason than the fact that I’ve been rigorously preparing for my driving test yet again. Lol Despite having more than 15 years of driving experience in Nigeria 🇳🇬, one thing that drained me financially and emotionally in this country is getting my Driver’s Licence. Anyways, after spending £1,870 (1 Theory Test, 30hours of driving lessons, Test booking & rebooking, and 3 Practical Tests), I finally got my UK 🇬🇧 driver’s Licence. Before leaving the house for the test again, I said to myself, “Slim, you can do this! Your friends and folks are rooting for you. You can’t be wasting money on driving test. Just be calm and drive normally like you would with your driving instructor”. And I was also lucky to get a favorable examiner who wasn’t too harsh on me. Before now, I’ve had to sack my former driving instructor who I was convinced doesn’t have the right skillset to teach people how to drive. With a good instructor, you are 85% almost guaranteed to pass. Can’t thank Shahid (My driving instructor) well enough. Why am I being disgustingly annoying with posting about my car? BECAUSE I CAN! 😭😆 It’s more about the process of how I got here than the car itself. It’s been a fckin journey. It took me 15 years to complete my driving lessons. My mom paid for my classes when I was 16, but I forgot to go. I still remember her exasperated voice saying, “Tu te les paiera toi-même, caliss!” Then, I moved to Montreal and just… forgot about it. Around 19, I took my theoretical lessons (now mandatory), passed my exam, got my learner’s, but then forgot to pay for it after 10 years, lost it, and had to redo the whole process. 🥴 Two years ago, @kellyanepeps registered me for classes as a birthday gift. Thanks to her, I finally decided to attend .. sporadically (very on brand). A big shoutout to my amazing teacher Safouane at @o_volant, who laughed more than once at my rare attendance. This year, I FINALLY MADE IT. And to celebrate this MEGA accomplishment, I bought my dream car for my bday, my baby BMW E30 1989, Don Carlos. I love being a late bloomer. (Blame it on the ADHD)

I passed my driving test!!!!! 😭😭 B thought I’d failed coz I came out bawling hahaha I’ve never been as nervous about anything in my whole life, I thought I was going to choke on my anxiety and I’m really not the type of person who gets too bothered about anything 💀 I always feel like you can only do your best in life, but the driving test waitlist is so long and I was spending a fortune just doing driving lessons every week 🚙🚙 (I passed my theory in 2020 and then between everything and me failing the last time it’s just been so stressful and annoying because it seemed to be all anyone asked me about) Stay going, you can do it too! I am so so so happy 😭😭😭😭
