Just finished my life-size K-2SO build! 🤖 This project was fully 3D printed and assembled piece by piece, followed by extensive sanding, finishing, and weathering to capture the worn Imperial look. From the glowing eyes to the distressed metal paintwork, the goal was to recreate the intimidating but iconic silhouette of the K-2SO. A LOT of hours went into printing, post-processing, painting, and final assembly, but seeing this towering droid finally standing at full height made it all worth it. If you’re into droid builds, prop making, or large-scale 3D prints, this was definitely one of the most rewarding projects I’ve tackled. Because this 3d model of the base only runs off of two high powered magnets rather than the four that are there in the body r7 can really only look around. I can't really drive with that head on it. Still dialing, in some of the printer settings and this file is the free one I found online.. The base would have to be redesigned. Or I would have to get a base from the park one.. Me and my kids loved this series and when I saw this come out I had to make it. Wish I had a darker silver paint but I am impatient 😂. Subtle upgrade to my security droid paint job. K-3OC now has hand painted gunmetal joints to replace the brighter metallic spray paint finish for his ankles, knees, elbows, and wrists. I think it's a much more realistic metal look. When I reprinted the lower legs to accommodate the base I wasn't happy with the silver spray paint job so I hand painted the ankle joints.
