Records are more than items but tangible chapters in my life. 2 records I recently dug up that brought up a lot of memories are @kingbritt’s signed copy of Dynamic. He passed that my way when we shot his episode of #CrateDiggers for @fusetv. You can still watch episodes today on the @peacock network! Another record I found was in celebration of @dublab’s 10 year anniversary. Kutmah and I each did a side mixing submissions from Dublab’s community of friends and fam. #vinyl #dublab #kutmah #kingbritt #cratediggers

W O M E N ‘ S • M O N T H ✨ As we continue celebrating Women’s Month, I want to give a big shoutout and show love to my good friend @lyricjones! She’s been doing her thing for years, and now she’s evolving into the house music scene—and the vibes are super dope. I was invited @dublab while she played a house set. She also played this flip of “Spirit, Fall Fresh on Me” by Walter Hawkins, sung by Daryl Coley. That track is really dear to my heart—I used to play it on 🥁 with the choir, with my mom directing and my dad on organ. Hearing it in that house music format was powerful and inspiring. Stay tuned for what Lyric’s got in store. She just dropped her new single In Due Time, and she’s got more heat on the way. You already know it’s gonna be special! #WomensMonth #LyricJones #InDueTime #HouseMusic #GospelHouse #Dublab #NewMusic #StayTuned #DaruJones

In this episode of Deep Routes we are joined by the Afro-diasporic Grammy-winning band Quetzal. The band has served as a vehicle for connection, ancestral storytelling, and activism throughout Los Angeles and the world for decades. Spanning many members, the band exemplifies the transformative qualities of music and its ability to transcend the often oppressive conventions of the music industry. Drawing inspiration from their encuentros in places like Chiapas and work in their own communities of East Los Angeles, Willowbrook, Hollywood, Pico Union and beyond, Quetzal members have created spaces for other artists to grow and express themselves. We are honored to share their stories and ideas that embody the spirit of what the Deep Routes series is about - the intersectionality and connectivity of music across the Los Angeles landscape. Please enjoy these interviews held with core members Quetzal Flores and Martha Gonzales, and other members of the group, Alberto Lopez, Evan Greer and Tylana Enomoto, surrounding their musical path and experience in the band. Tune in tonight at 7p PST on dublab.com worldwide! #deeproutesla #quetzal #losangeles #dublab

ON AIR RADAR 🔊 We’re putting together a roster of Angelenos and their stories for our next event Nov 3-5. Meet some of the people we’re listening to. 3️⃣: Alejandro Cohen (@cafe__ale) Q: What do @animalcollective @devendrabanhart @fourtetkieran and @saulwilliams all have in common?  A: Simple: They were all played in their early days on @Dublab — and in big part thanks to its Director, Alejandro Cohen.

For nearly two decades Ale has shaped the sound of the influential non-profit online radio station, introducing the world to some of the most exhilarating new artists. Experiential and continually evolving, Dublab is more than a radio station: It’s a haven for cultural explorers, creative seekers and the music-obsessed. Although rooted in LA’s art scene and vibes, Dublab’s impact and DIY-ethos resonates globally: affiliate stations extend as far as Japan, Barcelona, Germany and Brazil.   As Director, Ale guides the station’s signature sound — an always unpredictable mix of music from the past that seamlessly flows into the voices of today and the future.  Now in their 20th year, Dublab has a brand new space that we’ll be crashing to co-host an Open House powered by @patreon. Join us (and Ale! 😉) for a day of music paying homage to the culture and vibrations of LA.
