Your butter might not actually be butter… 👀 You think you’re buying butter…but are you actually buying seed oils in disguise? 🧈👀 For years, butter was made out to be the villain. But real butter is a health food! Natural, nutrient dense fat, especially when it comes from grass fed cows. It contains vitamins A, D, E, K2, healthy fats, and supports satiety, hormones, and overall metabolic health. Meanwhile, many supermarket “spreadable butters” are actually butter mixed with cheap seed oils like rapeseed or sunflower oil to make them softer and cheaper to produce. So you’re not really getting butter…you’re getting a processed blend. Quality matters. What to look for instead: ✔️ Ingredients: just cream (and salt) ✔️ Ideally grass-fed ✔️ Raw, if accessible ❌ Avoid “butter blends” or “spreadable butter” made with seed oils Such a small swap… but it can make a big difference to the quality of fats you’re eating daily. Next time you shop, flip the pack and check the ingredients. You might be surprised what’s in your “butter”. 👀 Save this so you remember what to look for next time you’re at the supermarket 🛒 Follow for more tips on nutrition, hormones, digestion & real food habits 🌿 #butter #realfood #ingredientcheck #seedoils #grassfedbutter wholefoods
Not all butter is equal. And some of the “butter” you’re buying… isn’t really butter. Yes, I am a fan of butter. Butter can support the production of butyrate, which is fuel for your gut cells. But here is where people get it wrong. Many supermarket options are “look alike” butters. Blended products. If you check the ingredients, you will often see: • butter • rapeseed oil • palm oil • salt Even if butter is the main ingredient, those added oils matter. They can increase omega 6 intake and shift the body toward a more inflammatory state. Raised omega-6 intake is not inherently bad on its own, but high consumption paired with low omega-3 intake can be. So you are not getting the same benefit. Go for real butter. Simple ingredients. No blends. No added seed oils. And often, it is cheaper too. This sits perfectly inside the pillars of my ALIGN Method. Let me explain why. We do not fear fat. We choose it intelligently. BUTTER 🧈 I may have some companies coming after me for this one, but I see so much trick marketing that honestly pisses me off. People are just trying to do their best when it comes to buying groceries, and the reality is that it’s not always that straightforward. Seed oils are added to just about everything these days, and they’re very high in omega 6 fatty acids. It’s not that omega 6 is “bad” on its own, but when the ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 is out of balance (which it often is in a western diet, around 10–20:1 instead of closer to 1–4:1), it drives inflammation in the body. This matters more than you think… that low-grade, ongoing inflammation can show up as breakouts, excess oil, and hormonal imbalances. What you’re cooking with daily might seem small, but it adds when it’s in your system every day. When buying butter, look for 100% pure butter. Grass-fed is always a great option if you can get it, as it tends to have a better fatty acid profile and higher levels of fat-soluble vitamins. My go-to is Westgold, with Mainland as a close second. Try to avoid anything with canola, sunflower or “vegetable oils” added. BEWARE of spreadable butters… they’re usually blended with seed oils to make them softer. Simple is best here. Just real butter with real ingredients. Also LOL at me calling this an “episode”… looks like we’ve got a series now 🤝 What supermarket picks do you want to see? Comment below 👇

What kind of oil is best to cook with? Butter. 🧈 And not just any butter — organic, grass-finished butter. Why? Because butter contains butyrate, a powerful short-chain fatty acid that helps feed the cells lining the colon, support the gut lining, calm inflammation, and promote better digestive health. That means it can support: better gut health, stronger digestion, better bowel movements, improved nutrient absorption, and less irritation in the digestive tract. Grass-finished butter is also a much more traditional, stable cooking fat than highly processed industrial seed oils. Instead of cooking with oils that are easily oxidized by heat, I’d rather use a real food that has actually nourished humans for generations. So no, I’m not reaching for canola, soybean, sunflower, safflower, corn oil, or “heart healthy” fake butter spreads. The American Heart Association lied to you! GMO butter? Hard pass. Most conventional dairy cows are fed GMO corn and soy sprayed with glyphosate, which has been studied for its endocrine-disrupting effects and links to fertility problems. If you care about your hormones and gut health, organic grass-finished butter matters. I’m choosing organic, grass-finished butter because it’s: gut-supportive, rich in butyrate, more stable for cooking, and actually nourishing. Real food always wins. Oh and that little U, IYKY 😜 #guthealth #butyrate #grassfedbutter #seedoils #eatrealfood
Food companies put crap ingredients in their products to save money and slap a pretty label on it to confuse us ! Always read labels and opt for less ingredients 🙏🏼
Most peanut butter isn’t actually peanut butter! It’s a mix of hydrogenated oils, sugar, and additives your body doesn’t recognize. Real peanut butter? Just peanuts. Maybe salt. That’s it. Read the label. Your health is in the ingredients. mindy.naturally 🌿 Nourish better. Live better. #ReadYourLabels
Gotta be careful when buying Peanut Butter. If it says “spread” it’s not peanut butter and probably contains palm oil. I didn’t expect that with the organic from @target and overlooked it. You just need peanuts.
For years we were told: “Swap butter for margarine… it’s healthier.” We listened but it wasn’t in your best interest. Now its happening again… Margarine was originally created as a cheap industrial alternative to butter. It’s made by chemically altering vegetable oils into something your body doesn’t naturally recognise. Despite consumer preferences, the products haven’t changed. Just the marketing. Products like Nuttelex are still made from heavily processed vegetable oils. My advice: real fats always win over engineered spreads. 👇Comment EP28 and I’ll send you my 15-minute episode It’s called from the pod: 10 Effortless Food Upgrades That Can Transform Your Health” This is just 1 of the 10 simple swaps I share all quick, practical and easy to implement. No new diet. No overwhelm. Just smarter choices.
We won’t apologise for using butter. It is the essence of what we do. What we will question is why butter was ever blamed? Butter has long been vilified, quietly replaced, misunderstood. But it was never the problem — only what came disguised as it. Maybe it’s time we set the record straight. Let’s change the conversation.
