Here’s what takes Them some time to figure out, and really can’t blame them: -We identify where we live by saying the county first. Each county is so different with politics, taxes and schools. -Marylanders are obsessed with their state flag and put it on everything from lacrosse shorts to bumper stickers. -When we say “eastern shore”, it’s not the beaches at Ocean City. It’s the flat, rural side of Maryland on the east side of the bay where life is a LOT slower -If you’re driving on the Beltway (I-695), locals will tell you to take the “Inner Loop” or “Outer Loop”. Since it’s a circle, both loops go to the same place eventually, and even lifelong residents often have no idea which one is which. -If you meet someone new, they won’t ask where you went to college, they’ll ask where you went to high school. They use it as a GPS to figure out exactly what you’re all about -DC heavily influences our housing prices and economy in Maryland…the closer you get to the district, the more expensive things get. 👉But the great thing about Maryland is you can pick your own version of it, the rural and slow, fast paced metropolis, small town historic, suburban, salt life, mountains, you name it. We had a blast bright and early this morning with thousands of Virginians and visitors from all over to celebrate the 100th year of the Chincoteague Pony Swim! What an amazing century of tradition and testament to Chincoteague and the entire Eastern Shore’s love for community and these incredible animals.

By far the BEST views at any vacation rental we have stayed in were @tremezzo_stay. The Chesapeake mansion is situated on 30 acres on Maryland’s Eastern shore. A true slice of paradise!

Fun fact: I was actually born in Chestertown, Md. A (still) small rural town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I also do not like collard greens and I love green mint chocolate chip ice cream 🤭. It’s not that I hate sweet potato pie, I just prefer pumpkin pie. Please, be shocked in the comments. I’m expecting it.

It's a big day for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel! Officially named the Lucius J. Kellam, Jr. Bridge-Tunnel, the impressive thoroughfare seen here from @n216hd is celebrating its 60th anniversary today. MDOT archaeologist Dr. Julie Schablitsky recently directed an excavation at Harriet Tubman's birthplace on the Eastern Shore of Maryland where she discovered a chamber pot.
