The Equestrian world really needs to stop bounding the word confidence around, like whether you have 'it' or not determines all your success in the saddle.
Competence, belief, safety and genetic or even cultural risk taking factors are really what we should be looking at. Confidence is a feeling it's slippery and ever changing and it's only a small part of the equation when it comes to joy and success in the saddle!

There is nothing more powerful than hearing the voices of our participants. š¤
Through Empowered Equine Assisted Learning, these young individuals are discovering their confidence, strengthening their communication, and stepping into leadership in ways that truly inspire us.
They are learning to express themselves, to listen, andāmost importantlyāto feel heard.
Watching them build trust, form connections, and find their voice alongside our incredible horses is what this program is all about.
We are so proud of the growth happening in each and every one of them⦠and so grateful to be part of their journey.
Interview with my peak performance mental skills client, Natalie Coffin, at Wellington Equestrian Center.
Transforming her riding with mental skills to rein in the distractions of relationship issues in her life outside of her sport.

In our podcast episode with Krista Kehoe, we broke down how mental tension becomes physical.

On the Optimized Equestrian Podcast I shared something that may challenge competitors.
You can win all you like. But if the cost to the horse is too high, the win means nothing.
If equestrian sport does not evolve, it will be taken out of our hands. It really is that simple. We either learn to compete without pushing horses beyond their physical, mental, and emotional thresholds, or competition risks fading away.
This is not about ending sport. It is about protecting it by understanding the horse first.
