Graeme was a Scotland international with 12 caps to his name, and 1 goal. He would start his professional career in Scotland with Dumbarton before moving to Everton. At Goodison Park he would appear in 322 league matches for the club and score 111 goals. When his time on Merseyside was up he would move to Oldham, who he would also mater manage. Sharp played 1 match at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. A BBC reporter asked a stranger about a famous football match—only to discover he was interviewing the goalkeeper who had played in it. 😂 In February 2015, BBC reporter Stuart Flinders was asking people in Liverpool about the 1967 FA Cup fifth-round Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton. The man he approached was Tommy Lawrence, Liverpool’s former goalkeeper, who calmly revealed that he had played in the very match being discussed. He even remembered the key detail: Everton’s Alan Ball scored the winning goal in a 1–0 victory. Lawrence signed professionally for Liverpool in 1957 and made 390 appearances for the club before leaving in 1971. He helped the Reds win two English league titles and their first-ever FA Cup in 1965. Fans also nicknamed him “The Flying Pig,” an affectionate reference to his agility and spectacular diving saves.
