Step turns on cross country skis. Downhills while XC skiing can be intimidating but practicing step turns is a great way to build some confidence. Start on mellower terrain and it will also improve your skate skiing or classic on the whole. Step turns will help you carry more speed through turns. You can then carry that momentum skate skiing into the flats or next uphill! Three tips: 1️⃣ Start on flats first and then gradually increase the steepness that you practice on. 2️⃣ Drive your hands around the turn.
