MUCUS making you feel stuffy? Let’s talk FIRECIDER! 🔥🌿
That bold kick from pungent ingredients like garlic and ginger may get your nose running and offer a little temporary relief from stuffiness. That’s different from getting rid of the cause—but it helps explain firecider’s reputation!
My blend brings together apple cider vinegar with the mother, garlic, onion, ginger, turmeric, rosemary, and thyme. 💚

FIRE CIDER 🔥
Honestly one home remedy I fully believe worked last year. If you feel that tickle in your throat or start having any congestion, a shot of this will clear it right up!
TO MAKE:
1 qt jar
1/2 orange
1/2 lemon
1/2 yellow or red onion
3-5 cloves garlic
3in ginger root
1-2 sprigs of thyme
1-2 sprigs of rosemary
1-2 cinnamon sticks
2-3 C of apple cider vinegar
1. Add everything to your jar and cover with the apple cider vinegar.
2. Keep in a cool dry place and allow to sit for 2-4 weeks to reach full potency and then strain the liquid out (helps prevent spoilage) and keep the liquid all winter long.
TO USE: dilute 1-2 tbsp in warm water with a tsp of honey

Wanna boost your immune system? Congested? Feel something coming on? Take a tbsp or 2 of #firecider #fireciderrecipe

Fire cider is amazing... if you started it a month ago 😅 This is my shortcut for cold season 🔥
🍂 Why now? In Chinese medicine, autumn is the season of the lungs. The air gets drier, the mornings get colder, and this is when the body is most open to catching something. The whole idea is to warm the body before the cold gets in, not after.
🍯 Why honey? Chinese herbalists have used honey for centuries to soothe a dry throat and a dry cough, exactly what autumn brings. It also carries the herbs, so they’re easy to take every day.
Why cayenne? Chile has been part of Mayan medicine for thousands of years, traditionally used to warm the body and get things moving when you feel heavy and chilled.
🫚 Ginger + cinnamon are two of the most used warming herbs in Chinese medicine, traditionally reached for at the very first sign of a chill.
✨ Turmeric + black pepper: the pepper helps your body take in the turmeric, so never skip it.
How to use it: 1 teaspoon in hot water when you feel something coming on, or daily through the cold months. With powders only, there’s no fresh root and no extra moisture, so it keeps for months in a closed jar, no fridge needed.
Every Monday in October I’m sharing one herbal recipe for cold and flu season. Save this so you have it ready 🍯 and send it to the friend who always gets sick first.

🍂 SEPTEMBER = FIRE CIDER SEASON! 🔥🍎
If you want a homemade batch ready for the colder months, now is the time to start. ⏰ A traditional fire cider is typically steeped for about 4 weeks.
Start with the same base for each jar:
🧅 Fresh garlic & onions
🫚 Spicy ginger root
🍋 Organic lemon slices
🍎 Raw apple cider vinegar with “The Mother”
Then customize your jar 👇
🛡️ 1. IMMUNITY SHIELD
Fresh horseradish + jalapeños + oranges + cayenne
✨ 2. GOLDEN RECOVERY
Fresh turmeric + black pepper + rosemary + cinnamon
🌿 3. GUT-GLOW TONIC
Fennel bulb + fresh mint + star anise + dried cranberries
🫙 HOW TO MAKE IT
Steep: Store in a cool, dark place for 4 weeks. Shake gently every few days.
Strain: Strain through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth, squeezing the solids well.
Finish: Stir in ¼ cup raw honey per jar for sweetness, then refrigerate. 🍯
Which one would you make first: 🛡️ Immunity, ✨ Golden Recovery, or 🌿 Gut-Glow?
Traditional fire cider is a folk preparation, not a proven treatment or prevention for colds, flu, inflammation, or digestive conditions.

There is something so calming about knowing I prepped this before we needed it. It comes together fast, it stores for ages, and it turns into part of our routine without any effort. I am not about doing the most, I just want simple habits that protect my family. This is one of my favorites for exactly that reason.
Save this one for when the weather turns, your future self will thank you 💛

Let me know below and check out my Fire Cider and Fire Honey recipe reels they are pinned to the top of my reel page!
Fire Cider Recipe:
1 whole lemon
1 ginger root (a couple inches long each)
1 garlic head
1/3 cup turmeric (dried chunks ideally but powdered works too)
1/2 red onion
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1/4 cup raw honey
1/2 liter raw apple cider with mother (or enough to cover)
Opt: 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
1 quart jar
Rough chop without peeling (in fact you’d lose a lot of goodness that way though you can take off any dirty top layers of the garlic/onion). Cover with apple cider vinegar. Let infuse for 4-6 weeks in a cool dark place, shaking it every day (or as often as you remember). Don’t be alarmed if the garlic turns green, it’s just a chemical reaction with the acid. After 4-6weeks strain and put into dropper jars. I take 2-3 droppers (~1tsp) whenever I’m going to be around sickness, or the same amount 3-4 times a day when I feel like I’m fighting something. It keeps 6 months on the shelf or up to a year in the fridge.
Fire Honey Recipe:
12 oz raw honey or enough to cover (bonus if it’s local)
1/2 Tablespoon whole cloves
1/2 Tablespoon black pepper
1/2 Tablespoon Ceylon cinnamon
1/4 cup turmeric (or a root if you can find it)
1/4 of an onion
1/2 head of garlic
1/2 ginger root (about 2 inches)
zest from 2 oranges
1 quart jar
Pour half the honey into a quart size jar. Dice up the onion, garlic, and ginger and add along with the other ingredients into the jar. Cover with the rest of the honey, give it a quick stir and set it in a cool dark place (or your counter if you’d forget like me) and give a flip/shake once a day. After four weeks, strain and serve or turn into gummies!
Take one spoonful (~1tsp) for prevention of illness or 3-4 times a day if beginning to fight something. It lasts six months on the shelf or up to a year in the fridge.
I recommend keeping these in the fridge because it’ll change faster in taste if left on the shelf.

🫚 1 Ingwerknolle
🧡 ca. 3 Kurkuma-Knollen
🌶️ 2–3 Chilischoten
🌿 1–2 Zweige Rosmarin
🌿 1 Handvoll frischen Thymian
🌿 5–6 frische Salbeiblätter
✨ 1–2 Zimtstangen (Bio Ceylon-Zimt)
⭐ 2 Sternanis
🌸 4–6 Nelken
🌿3 Lorbeerblätter
* optional etwas Pfeffer
* naturtrüben Apfelessig

Media cebolla grande
Cinco dientes de ajo, un pelín machacados
Una rama de jengibre entera
2-3 ramas de curcuma fresca
1-2 guindillas
2 ramas de canela
8 bayas de clavo
1 ramita de tomillo
