On Saturday we were on Fire island having a jolly old time when we were evacuated from the water because of a shark sighting! @nan_macmillan had spotted it before the lifeguards, her fear of sharks suddenly dissolved into an extreme interest rather than fear!! This painting is inspired by the strength of my girlfriend!! Facing fears and being strong in general everyday!!
While I did not see the shark myself, I saw a school of fish jumping out of the water very close by to us which apparently might have been scared by the shark!!
Then today on the way to my studio I found a shark fin shaped piece of wood on the street! I thought I have to paint a shark today!!

This was such a fun experience and one of the most unique ways to spend an afternoon!
Whether you’re going solo, with friends or your little one, you’ll have a great time!
Enter Field 5 of Robert Moses State Park (it’s $10 without the Empire Pass), take the parking lot all the way to the very left and next to the pedicab booth, you’ll find the smooth Boardwalk entrance that weaves you through the dunes for a mile.
Once you come up on the lighthouse and visitor center, you’ll take the back ramp all the way to the gravel driveway, leading to a dirt road that runs parallel to the shoreline. I have the @nuna_usa and it handled the road’s surface perfectly!
After a 20-minute scenic walk, you’ll enter Kismet and find an array of things to do including the beach, a park & pickleball court, plus plenty of outdoor restaurant options & treats🍦
This is an affordable and fun way to spend the day with your family!
