Congratulations to our newest Fire Service Paramedic Kassidy Doughty! Kassidy entered our EMS Trainee program as an EMT in October of 2024. She then attended American River College’s Paramedic program and successfully completed her field internship and today, became a member of the Sacramento Fire Department’s Fire Service Paramedic program! @metrofireofsacramento You might be wondering… what exactly is MIH? 🤔🩺 Metro Fire’s Mobile Integrated Health Unit pairs advanced providers, like nurse practitioners and physician assistants, with paramedics to respond to low-acuity 911 calls and high 911 utilizers. Since these providers can perform expanded medical care in the field, many patients can be treated and released on-site instead of being transported to the emergency room. That means fewer unnecessary ER visits and more available resources for life-threatening emergencies.
