Hey, I’m Julia. Just like most people, I used to think flights like this were only for people spending thousands of dollars. For me, long-haul flights were something to survive.. not enjoy. But now a 9-hour flight suddenly doesn’t feel long enough! I use credit card points, and my hobby is figuring out how to fly in seats like this without paying the $7,000 price tag. Over the years, I’ve learned how loyalty programs actually work, and how to turn everyday spending into flights and hotel stays most people think are out of reach. ⬇️ READ ME ⬇️ Every christmas eve my husband and i sit down and make a dream itinerary for the coming year: just us, no kids, just us as a couple. For 2023 we ticked off multiple bucket-list places. Venice, Lugano, Como*, and Milan. After experiencing an upgrade from business to first class on @british_airways, last year, we knew we had to try it again. We played full price for the tickets, knowing full well we would accrue plenty of airline miles. Although the service wasn’t quite as good as it was on our previous experience, it was still one of the best flights I’ve ever had. Multiple courses, delicious food, and for the first time ever, I slept five hours on the plane interrupted. I am a person who cannot sleep on any plane, ever. So to wake up and be landing in London, super-rested and ready for the short trip to Venice was nothing short of miraculous. I’ll have more information on the return flight as they got canceled, so sadly, we will not be flying British again—as this is the second time this has happened to us in the last two years. Such a shame though because I truly loved the first class flying experience. After the flights, we had a transfer from the airport to a water taxi, who took us in directly to the hotel Metropole (5⭐️). It was really nice to see the canal, grand Canal, and the hotel was nicely situated on the lagoon. Our room had a lagoon view, which was also great.
